Hello all.

I just transferred my first ever beer (a ten gallon batch of stout) to secondary, into cornys.

I am planning on letting it sit in those for about two weeks.

I am really wanting to incorporate ginger into a beer. My wife loves ginger beer.

I have been reading about adding fresh grated to the secondary. I would have added a little to the boil, but didn't think about it.

Just wondering who has added ginger to the secondary and for how long?

So... after a bit of reading, I decided to add 2 ounces of fresh ginger to one of my 5 gallon secondarys. I put it in a Muslin bag, peeled and diced, with a shot glass to weigh it down. I soaked it in vodka for a few minutes. I am going to leave it in there for the two week secondary. :)

I've never brewed with Ginger but two weeks may be a bit much. Beer could be a little hot because of the ginger. Try 3-4 days and then taste a sample.
