I have a can of Oregon Pitted Red Tart Cherries I was hoping to add to a beer. I'm wondering if the cherry pits should be removed. If so, what is the best way of doing this while avoiding potential contamination? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ah, indeed "pitted" means pits removed. Learn something new everyday. Thanks for the replies.
