Brewpastor
Beer, not rocket chemistry
Easter is a really busy time for me, so now that it is over I decided to reward myself with a day off to tinker in the brewery. IT WAS GREAT!
The burner on my HLT had a tendency to choke out if it was cranked too high. The problem was it was located too close to the base and collar on the HLT. So I cut my frame and built a new adjustable harness/bracket and dropped it 6 inches or so. It now works great and will run full throttle. The burner is one of those Kajun Kooker weed-burner type set-ups. Man is goes like gang busters.
I reworked the whirlpool set-up related to my mask/lauter tun. The tun is a stainless cylinder with a flat bottom. I had a funky rig before but it was a pain to set up, but would get the whirlpool going. Now I have it built out of copper and set up with quick connects on the same port I use for my sparge arm. In the water test it worked great so I can't wait to run it with wort.
I did a reconfiguring of my hop back and in-line aeration set-up, so it is easier to access, and monitor. It also gets it out front where it can be seen so it looks cool too.
While doing all this I finished off some Bastard lager and did some deep sampling of a dry stout.
Like I said, it was a great day!
