I got this recipe for Xmas and am not seeing any recipe like this. Most are 9-10 dme with partial grains. This recipe has 4 3pound bags of DME that came with it. No instructions. I've brewed my share of beer so I get the gist..just not sure I should add it all to the boil

Am I right here
Steep the couple pounds of grains in 1.75 gallons of water until conversion is complete. This is where I'm lost. For a five gallon batch should I add 6-7 gallons(temp????), then add DME, then bring to a boil for hop additions. I think maybe even 8 gallons..any help is greatly appreciated thanks

You might try this: go to Northern Brewer's website. (I know, I know, I don't like it either, but bear with me.) Look up a kit that seems similar to yours. Download their (free) pdf instruction sheet. Take it from there, and good luck.
