Hey gang. Need some advise.

I'm finishing my grad school program on 7.31.07 and I'd like to have something special ready to celebrate the occasion. Two and a half years of my life have been spent in the program. Anyone know of a really special brew that I can have ready by that time?

Right now, Rdwj's Grand Cru is high up there on my list, but I'm open to all styles.

I'm thinking about this because tonight is the end of my Winter quarter, so I only have two more quarters (4 classes) and I'm finished.

But seriously the Grand Cru sounds good, I think something that is not common. Another choice might be a barleywine since you'd be able to enjoy that many times down the road, although barley wine and late July might not mix very well. The Cru might be the better choice since it would likely give a drier finish.
 
That's what I was thinking. Imperial IPAs are big time, and finishing grad school is also big time. Sounds like a match. Either that or a huge belgian ale. Or maybe a... TRIPLE IPA!!! :ban: :tank: :rockin:
 
Celebrator is great, but that Imperial Wit sounds -awesome-. You totally need to make that one.

Maybe a Ayinger Celebrator clone... haven't had it, but the name rocks, and it sounds really good.

I do love those belgians!

I need to rebrew my beer that started as a Fat Tire clone (Lazy Monk). It ended up being completely awesome.
 
There are some beers that, personally, I just don't think should be "Imperialized." DogFish's Imperial Pilsner, for example, the worst beer I've ever drunk - too much malt means that the best part of a good pilsner, the light drinkablity, was shot. A wit strikes me as something, too, that wants to be fairly light in mouthfeel and a little dry - very drinkable and quenching. You make it Imperial, it's something completely different that isn't personally appetizing.

Brew what you want, but I think a biggish Belgian, or something like that, would be perfect.
 
I agree. An Imperial Wit sounds a bit odd. Interesting, but perhaps a bad idea. I love doppelbocks too. If you wanted to do a strong wheat beer, why not do a Weizenbock? That is one of my all-time favorites. Aventinus, yum!
