I have a source for free 5 gallon soy bean oil containers . Can I secondary in these if they are cleaned very well? I was worried about possibly killing the head ?? I think I can get 4 of these into my new freezer for lagering at the same time. I can only get 2 glass carboys in there. Any help for the noob would be greatly appreciated. ........Pat

If they are glass, or plastic with a 1 or 2 in the triangle recycle symbol you should be fine.

The one I have is #2 HDPE and therefore fine for use. Its not a terribly air-impermeable plastic but ought to be OK for a couple of weeks. Just be sure to get the oil out, I'd use Oxyclean type cleaner and hot water. Then plenty of rinses. You're good to go if you don't see a sheen on the rinse water.
