I'm sorry for commenting in this forum about a product I use. I didn't expect to be attacked for it. I'll stay out of the Brew Science area from now on.

The only thing offensive here is how easily disregarded Aj's efforts have been. He has exceeded the call of duty in giving Five Star the benefit of doubt given their reputation. What's offensive is that he has even gone so far as to prove how it can not work as advertised and yet it is still on the shelves at $15 a pound.

The manufacturer has conceded that the chemistry is flawed and yet it still stocks the shelves? Why? False positives, despite being a very simple metric to check and disprove the products efficacy.
 
There is something about the psychology of using a placebo that does placate the user. As long as the user doesn't realize they don't "have any clothes on", they might still be happy. Its these messages that cast doubt that ultimately undo the psychology. If you like it, keep using it. I don't.
