Just wanted to share as a thanks to everybody on here for all the super sweet info, and as a note to all those new brewers out there. There is good information here, thanks mods, for keeping this resource going.

Got a 42 on my first contest entry, an IPA. From Al Boyce - Grandmaster II. I thought that was pretty cool, we killed the keg to celebrate.

Side note; does anyone ever get notes of mint from citra or pacific jade?

Anything in the 40s is definitely something to be proud of, congrats!

I don't get any mint from citra, but i've never used pacific jade.

Thanks

14 lb 2-row (rahr)
.75lb C40 (US)
.5 lb victory

magnum to about 50 IBU
1oz centennial at 15
1oz centennial at 10
1oz centennial at 5
1oz pacific jade at FO
1oz citra dry hop (i threw it in the primary after fermentation was done)
1/2 oz pacific jade in the keg (to keep things fresh and kickin)

Pretty sure that's right, just off the top of my head. I think it went from about 1070 to 1012 or so IIRC. Used chico yeast, pitched slurry, bottled off the picnic tap.

Its a bit on the lighter side (malt wise), which is how I tend to prefer my IPA's, I guess it's pretty similar to a 2-hearted but with some funky aroma hops. I like the results I've been getting from high alpha dry hops.

Once again, the credit goes to the board, good advice makes good beer.
