I'm sure tons of you have seen this [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7I-iwFLykxs]DIY Digital Temperature Controller - YouTube[/ame] but i searched the forum and couldn't find a recent thread on it..

Has anyone else tried to make it?
Is it really the best option for your money?

Most dual stage temp controllers are 100$ and this seem like a no brainer..
i can build 2 of these(1 for my fermentation chamber and 1 for my cellar) for the price of 1 controller?

I'm sorry if this has been talked about before..

Also what is the best heating element inside a chest freezer?
A light bulb? or a heating blanket? Or something else?

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

if you haven't been able to find threads on that you ned to look again harder. It has been covered to death.

Aside from being in Celsius it is definitely the best option for your money.

Do a search for "eBay temp" and you should get plenty of hits in this forum.

I built mine last week. I already had a lot free parts laying around so just had to buy a power supply cord. $25 total investment.

I think this is one of the better solutions. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/ebay-fish-tank-controller-build-using-wal-mart-parts-261506/

Instead of buying an actual extension cord I'd recommend just buying a power supply cord. I got a 6' cord from Menards for $4.

Also, I got my temp controller from this guy. Very fast shipping and a good price. eBay Temp Controller

Those are both sweet! Why does any one buy Johnson or Ranco temperature controls anymore when u can make these for way cheaper??
