Just wondering how they work with a light beer! I just bottled one we'll see how it does. It was a BL 40 oz. Buy the way I just bottled my first batch of American light! So far everything is going great thanks for all the info!

I left about 4" from the cap.

If you have brown 40 oz bottles and mix the priming sugar with the beer before bottling, nothing is different about the process. They are just bigger versions of their 12 oz companions, in terms of head space, you still only need about a bit more than an inch. Use a bottling wand, it will give you the "perfect" amount of head room every time.

I'll give it a try! It will be one of my sample bottles. I just didn't know if it would blow up?

You'll be safe especially if you use the brown paper bags :D

What? You know you're thinking the same thing!

All you need then is a really large glass so that you can pour the beer out all in one pour... because, of course, if you keep tilting it back and forth, you're going to be stirring up the yeast with each swig.

Yeast in suspension = FartMania

Just make sure that you share some with your homies.

I'm sure that you had to use a bench capper. There is no way a wing capper could get a hold of a standard 40.

Also, when they're ready to drink, don't forget you'll also need a bridge.....or overpass.... to drink under. Oh, and a newspaper blanket in case it's cold out.

Nah, should work but just be careful with those caps- it can be tricky to assure that they are sanitized in those little nooks and crannies.

thanks for all the info. So far the 40 is still alive its been 5 days. I'm getting alittle scared so I moved it out in the garage and put it in a bucket just in case.

pour one for my homeys

Make sure you pour a little on the ground as a sacrafice to your fallen homies. :p

I've got several 32s and 40s that I keep in circulation. I've used them probably 2-3 times on average before throwing them out or giving them away full. So far I've not had any flat brews. Some of them I've had sit for up to six months without problem.

I've even used my Michelob Celebration bottles 3-4 times. I recently gave one away as a gift before I pushed my luck and filled it again.

Well no worries its gone we drank it! Every thing was fine tasted great! On a side note My beer is getting better as it ages! I'm ready to start my next batch
