so i scored a brand new saf t fryer for $40. it has that faucet drain on the bottom. is this drain ok to use for draining wort or do i need a 3 piece ball valve?

I bought the same kit. The pot is great and the valve works great with wort. I moved on and now use the pot as a HLT and have no problems with it at all. The temp sensor is annoying but you can rewire it so it doesn't turn off the burner. Good luck with it!
 
thank you. didnt want to go and spend 40 on parts to convert it when that could go towards beer.

Kind of hard to see the faucet. Looks like a stainless garden hose faucet with a threader on the end? It's probably fine if you can take it apart and clean it after a few brews.
 
It is very easy to clean. It unscrews and the valve pops out. No need to upgrade it.
