3 Phase brewpi - 1 bbl RIMS

Hello everyone,

Does anyone already used these 8500 W 3 phase heating elements
https://store.brewpi.com/mashing/st...lements/incoloy-3-phase-heating-element-8500w ? A less powerfull version also exists https://store.brewpi.com/mashing/st...nts/incoloy-800-3-phase-heating-element-5500w.

We are planning a 1bbl brewery and would like to make a RIMS with such a heating element and a 2'' tri-clamp tube. What do you think of that ?

Not using them, but looks like a good choice for a large RIMS tube if you have 3-phase available.

I bet you are right... I wonder if you could jumper three legs for one side and the other three and power the other three? Its only ~12" long though.

Yes, we have 3 phase available (installed for us, the whole building with some apartments will have to be shutdown :rockin ! I do not understand what you mean BrunDog, are you speaking of Star/Delta configuration ?

What kind of pump would you recommend ?

I mean for us with single phase... because there are 6 legs, one side of each can go to one line (L1) and the other to the other (L2). Creative types can create a 2 or 3 switchable power system (~1830, ~3660, ~5500W).

well as it sits in the picture its in a wye(star) configuration. if you take that jumper off you could ohm out the legs to find the pairs and use single phase. each leg would give you about 3k watts.
