Where have you gone and seen this year.
Tonight it's Steve Miller Band, Journey, Def Leppard

We don't do big/stadium concerts anymore... I don't have tolerance for that kind of mess...lol. We prefer small, intimate venues without the crowds. Just recently saw a blues/rock guy, Alistair Greene. Good show.
Steve Miller is a fav of ours...

Did Luke Combs back at the beginning of June. Have Kenny Chesney & Zac Brown Band together this weekend. Will be seeing P!nk in Sept.

Combs was a lot better than I expected. I'm not a huge country fan; I married one and am father to one. But he can put on a damn show.

We were at this concert in Atlanta Saturday as well. Concert was awesome. My only gripe was the venue's decision to only have one set of gates for entry. This caused a 30+ min wait to get in so we missed a lot of Steve Miller. There were other gates, but they were closed. Poor decision and folks were not happy. Since it was an outdoor concert, at least we could hear them while standing in line. Def Leppard rocked!
In Aug, we go to Night Ranger in Memphis and then Huntsville to see John Waite / Styx / Foreigner. Then Kansas in October.

The entry lines were confusing. We were denied at first because the scanners were programmed based on seating location. Pit vs floor. That wasn't distinguished on the ticket. Folks behind us had entry issues as well.

Going to Night Ranger in Montgomery in August and Chevelle in Birmingham in a few weeks! Korn in Sept and the Korn 30th anniversary show in LA :) More excited to see Gojira with Korn.

I have gotten to like the smaller venues as well. Just saw Mr Big's farewell tour at the Filmore in San Francisco. Great show and the band was outstanding. Have seen Night Ranger many times, my friend is playing guitar for them. Really nice guys too. Had a few drinks with them in Tahoe. My wife bought me tickets for Sammy Hagar, which normally I would not go, but she was excited to get me the tickets so I am going to go. LOL.

I hope this isn't going to make anyone mad, but to pay the kinda money to go see Foreigner to me is not worth it. They are basically a tribute band now as there are no original members. Mick Jones I am told plays once in a while, but the band is basically just replacements. I have seen youtube vids of Lou Gramm singing and he sounds really good. Now would be a great time for Mick and Lou to get together for one more tour with the classic sound With that said, they are still a great band, but should be charging less as it really isn't Foreigner any more. Just my opinion, but who am I to say anything. If you dig it, then it is worth it.

For those into Tribute bands there is an all female Aerosmith tribute band called Rag Dolls. These ladies can seriously rock and are super cool They played a small club and I went to see them. I hung out at the bar after and they were all there. Very chill and we chatted about music and touring and stuff. I always try and get a plug in for them as they are keeping the sound going.

It's funny that you say you would normally not go to see Sammy Hagar but your forum alias is redrocker...?
I saw him once when he was with VH. Mosters of Rock tour back in the 80's - Kingdom Come, Metallica, Dokken, Scorpions and VH.

I have seen him so many times with both Van Halen and solo. His set list has not changed much since he left Van Halen. He puts on a great show but the prices these days for the bigger shows are just not worth it. I had ticket to the Monsters of Rock second day and they cancelled it. Not enough tickets sold. Great lineup though. I think the Scorpions are way underrated. They put on a great show and are very good musicians.

I know everyone's talking about the small venue concerts, but I got lucky and happened to get a large venue transformed into a much smaller one (for us, anyway)...

We (wife, oldest son, and myself) went to go see Zac Brown Band and Kenny Chesney at SoFi Stadium on Saturday. First of all, it is a very nice stadium. Our first time there.

We had tickets on the field. If you can visualize pretty much any stadium tour, you know that stage is basically at one end of the field, probably around the 10-15 yard line. We had tickets at approximately the opposite goal line. Which are pretty solid tickets for a stadium tour, but still a long way away.

So we get there, and our row doesn't exist... They took out our row to make room for accessible seating. We're freaking out, but we go over to guest services, check our tickets, and give us a little envelope with new tickets/seats. Turns out (to keep the football analogy) our new seats are on about the 25-yard line closest to the stage, but offset so we'd be about on the sideline of the field rather than center. I'll take that upgrade any day!

Here's the view from our seats:

As for the concert, I'm not going to lie. Zac Brown Band stole the show, and I was fairly disappointed in Kenny.

ZBB had their own stuff, but also covers of Charlie Daniels' The Devil Went Down to Georgia, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, Paul Simon's You Can Call Me Al, and Beastie Boys' Sabotage. All of which were fun. And their own stuff was solid. Granted, I'm a rock/blues guy (the wife/son are the country fans) so ZBB runs pretty much in the vein of country that's closest to my taste. But they had a great vibe.

Kenny was a little disappointing. Part of it was acoustics. While I didn't get this from ZBB, his vocals were fairly muddled and dominated by his band during the show. Maybe it was due to where we were sitting, but again I didn't get that from ZBB, so I don't know. It just didn't seem like he sounded right. And overall, it really seemed like everything he played sounded significantly worse than the recorded version. I also felt like he was "going through the motions" of just kinda playing all the hits as crowd service but didn't seem to be all that into it--even though he was very high energy. I suspect it was just me, as the crowd seemed to love him, but I found myself wishing it would be over...

Scorpions were underequipped at Giants Stadium for Monsters of Rock, could barely hear them.

I have to admit I am disappointed to hear that about Kenny Chesney. My daughter and I went to see him years ago when he had his string of radio hits and he really put on a fantastic show. Carrie Underwood opened for him I think and she was smoking hot, still is, and she also put on a fantastic show. It was an indoor show so maybe that makes a difference. I guess even musicians have "off" nights.

Bear in mind that my wife and my son didn't have the same thought on Kenny--although they agreed with me that his vocals were very lost, at least where we sat.

Carrie Underwood annoys me. It seems like every song is about God or cheating men... Which makes you ask--if all those men were so pious, would we need so many songs about cheating men? 😂

Rod Stewart tonight in Jacksonville FL.

I realize I titled this 2024, but didn't think it was enough for a new thread.

Booked so far in 2025:
BeeGees tribute this past Friday
April - Chicago
April - Pat Benatar
May - Rick Springfield (80's tour)
June - Kansas, Jefferson Starship, 38 Special
July - Toto
August - Rod Stewart
I'm sure we'll squeeze in a few more as the year progresses. Gotta see my 80's groups before it's too late.
