Hey all,

I just received my first keg and was hoping to get some input on 2 options for getting it ready to serve. The beer has been in primary for ~3 weeks so it's ready to transfer whenever. I'm leaving for a week of vacation tomorrow so I have 2 options:

1) rack the beer to the keg and throw in some sugar to go the natural route. The issue here is that I don't have my CO2/regulator right now. I do have a compact injector on me (http://www.williamsbrewing.com/BALL-LOCK-INJECTOR-P84.aspx) so I could probably purge the keg. I could try to use the injector to seat the seal but I have no idea if it would be capable of doing this

2) sit on the beer till I get back then go the set it and forget it mode.

Any thoughts on one versus the other? Seems like 1 would get me drinking it a little faster as it would be almost carbed up by the time I got back but I'm not sure about seating the lid with just the injector

Thanks!

Rack it, prime it, hit it with the injector (lightly, just a touch to set the o-ring). I've sealed plenty of kegs with the little 16g CO2 cartridges no problem. For your first time, have some soap-water or star-san on hand and spray down the lid to check for bubbles. Another suggestion is to buy the threaded CO2 cartridges since I always have problems with the straight-neck ones leaking after the first use.
