I am makeing a barleywine right now and used two much water and ended up with 10.5 gal in the pot.a normal beer I make with my system I start off with 7.75 gal and get to the 6 gal mark right on. so I dont think a two hour boil is going to get me down to six gal.so I am thinking on a 2.5 hour bouil at least
is theis fine dont care is its a little darker just didnt know if it will affect the beer at all

I think that it's going to caramelize the wort a bit, which may be good in a barley wine.

In my system, I would have to boil for about 4 hours to get it down from that volume.

Ill think you'll be fine, although you may want to spend more time re oxygenating the wort before pitching. I use a cheapo fish pump and usually let it work for 30min before pitching, if i did a boil like that i would probably leave it in there for 1hour.

Not trying to be confrontational, but it's my understanding that when you boil your wort for an hour (maybe less) then you are essentially ridding it of all the dissolved oxygen. That means that whether you boil it for an hour or for 10 hours you are going to have the same amount of O2 dissolved in solution: Zero.

You should oxygenate a lot because it's likely going to have a high OG, not because you're boiling extra.
