I racked over my 1 gallon batch about a month a go. Now they are both distinctly different colors. One is a golden hue and the other is definetly clearer but more brownish. From what I can tell they look healthy enough but there is a real color difference. Same batch same rack dates same equipment and containers etc. Yes they are both stored in the same place. I will try to get a picture.

Is this a good or bad thing? Or am I worrying over nothing?

Kinda confused about your process here, could you explain a little more?

As far as different colors go, did you take a gravity reading of each? It's possible for some residual sugars to have separated while aging.

If you separated out a 2 gallon batch into 2, 1 gallon jugs then yes you can get distinct color differences in the jugs. It happens to me I think because of the amount of yeast towards the bottom getting pulled into the 2nd jug.

Ah yes. That does sound confusing. I racked my gallon batch into 2 half gallon containers.

I tasted them both tonite with a friend and the brown clearer one is definetly smoother. They are both very drinkable considering the young age (fermentation was started 11/23, racking was 1 month later)

And no gravity reading. I'm still very new to this and don't know how to do that yet.
