Hi, has anyone done such a small batch in a large mash tun?
I was thinking of pre heating the mash tun but not sure if it will keep a stable temp?
Cheers aussie brewer :)

Depending on the grain weight that may not be as small a batch as you think.

I’m assuming you mean 2.5 gallon batch packaged?

I always pre-heat my cooler mash tun with hot tap water.
Lay a piece of aluminum foil on top of the mash to help keep heat in.
Use the "can I mash it" calculator to check your mash tun volume.

I usually run 2.5 to 4 gallon batches and started out BIAB, then went to a round cooler, now I'm back doing BIAB, doing a dunk sparge in a second smaller pot, its faster and easier for me, maybe with small batches you should give that a try.

oops I meant a 10 gal cooler, sorry im from Australia and we use liters.
I changed the title to 10 gal
