Trying to get started with all grain brewing and was wondering if those who use them have a 12" or 9" false bottom... And do you use a 1/2" valve??

12" FB with a 1/2" ball valve, 1/2" SS plumbing...

Cheers!

I've heard the 12" is hard to fit in the cooler... Did you have any trouble installing it?

I used the Northern Brewer cooler valve kit since it was only a couple dollars more that the parts I priced out. I didn't want to do all the searching for the right pieces.

I then bought a water heater supply line for the s.s. braid. It cost about $9 and works perfectly.

Hey guys got a question for ya... When you attach the barb fitting to the ball valve on the inside of your container you don't use teflon tape right? But you do use teflon on the outside?
Are there any additional parts needed (washers, etc) to put the ball valve in?

i didn't put teflon on the inside, I have the 9 inch fb and 1/2 inch ss valve...there is a video on northern brewers website that should help with what washers to put where!
