As I posted a week or two back I scored 2 turkey fryers for 10 bucks well I got them well the pots are oily and have some minor rust spots. The burner stands and rings them selfs have major rust how do I clean them so that I can start using them any help would be greatly received

Are the pots stainless or aluminum? Rust inside the boiling pot is not a very good sign as it can be hard to get rid of and the flavors from it can ruin a beer.

Rust on the stands is no problem, and only an aesthetic issue. Rust on the inside of the pot is a bad problem IMHO, and may make it unsuitable for brewing.

aluminum that comes with the fryer kits i have the pan that i have been using should i scrap the pots?

Are you sure the pots are rusted? Aluminum is non-ferrous and cannot rust.

If they are rusted then you probably have steel pots. Try giving them a good soak in some sort of degreaser to get the fryer oil off and then wash with PBW or Oxyclean Free.

As for the stands as long as its just surface rust and it hasnt eaten holes into the stand it should be safe. If you want to clean it up get some Naval Jelly (LINK) and it will eat off the rust and then just use a rattle can of primer and paint it any color you want.

You could always try some bar keeper's friend to rid the rust but see if they are aluminum vs steel first.

Stainless steel pots will rust if they are abused. Typically they will only have some surface rust in spots that will clean up with barkeepers friend.
