Hello, everyone!

We're new on the scene and found this site through a Google search. I found what looks to be an exhaustive step-by-step guide at howtobrew.com but I figured I should probably get some interactivity if we're serious about this thing so joining this message board seems to make the most sense.

A few conversations have lead to some serious brewing intentions and I find myself overwhelmed and anxious for the final product. We haven't even bought supplies yet! So I'm hoping browsing the site and picking your brains will ground me a bit and prove fruitful in our new endeavor.

I look forward to chatting with you all. Also, if you're in AZ and are interested in coaching a couple of newbies, we'd love to meet up!

Cheers,
:mug:

Welcome to the forum. By reading through How to Brew, you've already taken the first recommendation we give to new brewers. This forum is a great place with tons of experience. Be sure to also check out the Homebrewtalk Wiki via the links at the top of the page.

Again, welcome and happy brewing. :mug:

Welcome to the site. There's a good deal of us that brew here in the valley of the sun.

Where in the valley are you located? I'm sure there's someone close to you that would not mind having you over to see the process in action, and help you out on your first run.

There are three Local Homebrew stores in the area that I know of - depending on where you live, there's bound to be one near you.

Thanks for the warm welcome, McKBrew. :)

Desert Monkey, I will look into the Homebrew stores.

Chimone, we're in Chandler. We're always up for a weekend away, however.

Where is everyone located?

Pinetop. It's 60 degrees here right now :D

Brewer's Connection in Tempe is a pretty good shop for supplies, ingredients, and help.

I'm in Chandler myself :) - Brewer's Connection is pretty good, as is Homebrew Depot in Mesa.

They are both about the same drive from most parts of Chandler. I bought my starter kit from Brewer's Connection and had a great time brewing up my first batch.

If you go there, be ready to hear "sanitize sanitize sanitize" over and over - not that it's a bad thing :)

Welcome McKay!
Go ahead and add Chandler to your profile.

If anyone is interested in judging or stewarding that event, I can put you in touch with wild.

Here's the brewout we had in June...

BATF stands for Beer Acronym To Follow, because we are not as clever as SNIZZLE or GRABASS.

olllllo, Thanks for all the wonderful information! P.S. - I love mead! The first time I had mead was from a homebrewer, since then I've tried one commercial brand and it was disgusting...literally tasted like cheap wine with honey in it. I was terribly disappointed. I'll have to have that acquaintance who makes the mead check out the flyer you posted (if he doesn't know about it already).

Desert Monkey, Thanks for the info on the local homebrew places! I really appreciate it. I know I'll be visiting them very soon!

AZ_IPA, I'm way jealous! Also, I'll definitely have to check out Brewers Connection since you're vouching for it, as well. Thanks for letting me know about it!

You guys are incredibly helpful and I very sincerely appreciate it. If you get a chance, check out my label art thread...if you need any of that sort of thing done. I'm not charging a fee...so I can get some genuine networking done and get some label art practice.

Thanks again for all this great info. You guys rock. :rockin:

Welcome to the forum McKay. I'm out here on the west side of the valley and get all my brew stuff at What Ales' Ya aka Chuck's. If you're interested in learning about meads and want to steward, give me a scream.

wild, Thanks! I just might have to take you up on that offer at some point. :)

Desert Brew, Thank you for the welcome. ;)

Brandon O., You know I'm so there!
