How can I leave beer on the yeast?

I tend to go 4-6 weeks on most of mine. I think that you will be fine. What style/recipe are you brewing?

Who Has The Best Recipe Kits?

While I have never been disappointed with any kits I have used, I do like Austin Homebrew best. They seem fresher and better tasting. Just my .02. YMMV.

I add yeast to my cooled wort and shake the crap out of it. Is that wrong?

Not that is really matters, but I oxygenate before I add the yeast. The yeast doesn't have to be mixed as it knows what to do. I do tend to give the yeast a stir after adding, but I don't think that it is necessary.

    quick question about notty

LOL. Yea it does make seem more like a science project with the blow off tube bubbling in a jar of water. I remember my first batch with a blow off tube. It was in winter and I had in my gettolious cardboard fish box temp control chamber in the basement. The SWMBO said that it sound like it was...

Like most of the previous posters I use a blow off tube everytime for the first few days. Just some piece of mind for me.

    Bottling with growlers

To answer that question we need to know how long you have had it in secondary first. I usually don't secondary and go 4-6 weeks in primary.

What did i buy for $48.50!

This is some of the best advice out there. I completly agree and I leave every batch in primary at least 4 weeks. It is a much better beer if it is not rushed.

Best way to get hydro sample

I tend to avoid this type of situation, and go buy my own small things for brewing only. It is usually money well spent. Just my .02 cents. YMMV.

Best way to get hydro sample

Yooper, You are not the only one who has done that! You are just the only one who will admit it! :D Oh all right. I have done it too:o

    Stirring Wort

+1 on just leaving it alone. The fermentation activity will mix the top water and the wort. RWDAHB!

    Grolsch swingtop bottles

Inspect the gaskets on the caps and replace as required. I get 4-5 uses on the gaskets between replacements. YMMV

late extract addition with 2 types of extract

What he said! I have done it both ways and couldn't tell a difference. Cheers,

    I tasted my first sample...

Patience grasshopper. Time is your friend. It's hard on the first one but give it time to age. It will be good then! Go get some micro brews to hold you over. Cheers,

Basement temp is 66 F. How long should Mr Beer stay in the brewing keg?

Warning, You are exhibiting signs of turning this hobby into an obsession! If you do then you will truly fit in here!!. :ban:

Basement temp is 66 F. How long should Mr Beer stay in the brewing keg?

I would recommend (if you have enough patience) to leave it 4 weeks in the primary. The yeast will continue to clean up after their selves after fermentation is complete and they will reward you with some good tasting beer. In case you haven't seen it, there is a whole section here on Mr...

What does it mean to add LME at "knockout"?

This technique works just as well with DME. I do with all of my extract batches or PM's.

Yes it does! There is no turning back now! (even if you wanted to) :ban:
