I drink stout all year long, I can't get enough of it personally. :D I do tend to drink less during the summer though for the same reason as Walker. A nice mild or bitter works best for me in the hot months.
I do both as well. Things that don't make sense to have on tap get put into bottles. Bigger beers and stuff I know I won't drink quickly. Or even stuff that I know I will give away a lot.
I haven't been able to sample too many other brewers beers so I'll have to go with my own. It's a tie between Jack the rIPA and Best Laid Plans (both available in my dropdown).
If it was a question of which beer I'd made the most, that would be Orfy's Mild Mannered Ale.
Be sure to have a look at the Canadian Brewers group as well (link in my sig). There is a decent list growing in there.
Morebeer and Austin Homebrew (2 of the big US vendors) will ship to Canada with USPS (no UPS extortion fees) if you request it.
Still on my original buckets. I switched from carboys to better bottles after a near disaster and haven't looked back. Hoses I replace as they appear to need replacing, no idea how often that is as I don't really pay attention.
Those comments weren't directed at you my friend. Some instructions are incredibly poorly written and nothing but confusing. No offense intended! :mug:
Ah yes, I re-read it and you're right. I took it to mean he wanted to increase the OG by adding extract to the mash. That's what I get for looking at spam all morning and trying to say something intelligent. :D
The mash happens before the extract is added, so one has nothing to do with the other (in terms of the extract affecting the mash). You're using the extract to make up the difference in gravity from what your mash provided you.
My tanks live outside year 'round and I've never had an issue, when I'm brewing it's just sitting on the snow too. Generally you're not pulling propane from the tank quickly enough for it to completely ice up. Unlike a tiger torch we used to use that would freeze a 100lbs tank to the point...
