    So what did I create?

Whatever it is, it is damn good and luckily only a few friends like it!

    So what did I create?

Well, I thought I was done with canned kits, but I had a Cooper's European Lager kicking around. So what did I do? I bought another kit and decided to use both cans but no added sugars or malts. I brewed it with 3 packages of the Lager yeast that came with the kit... why did I have an extra...

Aged 9,000 Years, Ancient Beer Finally Hits Stores!

I had to laugh a little while reading this. They base their recipes on traces of ingredients they find when analyzing the crockery... I bet this was not a recipe, rather 3or 4 different drink that were in the vessel at various times. Like if I had a a clay bottle of beer and then refilled...

    Is beer killing our planet?

Actually the earth has been getting cooler for that last few years, that's why they changed the name from "Global Warming" to "Climate Chage" god forbid thay could admit they were wrong, just change your story to fit the facts.

    Is beer killing our planet?

You would think breweries could capture said CO2, pressurize it and use it for carbonation. Oh and waste from cattle, feeds the plants and generates more O2.

OK, I'll admit it. I will probably never brew an IPA.

I was thinking the very same thing, but then it hit me, I can brew an IPA and bottle it and forget about it. I may only drink 1 a week or less, but I could have have a whole year's worth of IPA, maybe even two or 3 in one batch. This could be a very interesting beer as it will evolve every month...

    Help me name my brewery

Dog Basket... corny yet catchy enough. Puppy Basket is cuter Baket of Bitches, maybe save that one for a particualr recipe. Basket Case Brewery sounds pretty good.

31 uses for beer besides drinking it

Wow, could have easily shortened that list to 15 maybe 20, the rest were things you could do with any liquid or can of soda. There was maybe 5 other things I have never heard of, Interesting.

Strangest thing that fell in your wort

Strangest thing that fell in your wort

Not dropped in, but no matter how much I sanitize and rinse and visually inspect... I often find a dog hair in my primary, sometimes before the wort goes in and quite often as I am siphoning into a secondary... dog hair is juts part of my life now. Maybe, I will call my brewery the "Hair of the...

    Beer in the morning?

On deep sea fishing boats, I can have 3 before I would even be awake if I were at home. But normally, I never have on until about 11 or so. Nothing against, just not in the mood. I have a neighbour who has a couple Gin and Tonics for breakfast everyday (unless he is working) then about a dozen...

So I figure I drink 1100 bottles of beer a year

I am likely just about 365-500 per year, I really don't know as I can go weeks with none and somedays, 1 a day and sometimes more.

To each his own but fruit doesn't belong in beer

I can't stand a wheat beer and have yet to taste a good fruit beer, however, if my palate memory serves me well, I can see a fruity wheat beer being very tasty.

To each his own but fruit doesn't belong in beer

How can force carbing be in violation? I suppose it can be interpreted that way. But I have to agree, since I quit using dextrose, I prime with DME and force carb. Up until very recently I have never tried clearing agent in my beer either. I tried Irish Moss once on an experimental batch and...

To each his own but fruit doesn't belong in beer

Seems like Raspberry, is THE fruit to use. We have a raspberry Zinfandel bottled righ tnow and I am making a raspberry mead when they berries are ripe. I may save some of the juice and try it in a glass of chocolate stout, I already have on tap and see what it is like... YES I said a chocolate...

Anyone Ever Try Brewing in a Pumpkin?

I was thinking the same, however, hard to know where to stop when hollowing a watermelon. I suppose you could use the juice from the pulp and use it in your brew as well.

To each his own but fruit doesn't belong in beer

To each their own, like you said. I can't stand wheat in beer either, but they are hugely popular. While I mostly agree with no fruit in beer, I do have to say, I like a Corona with lime on a hot sunny day. But I would never drink any of these new "lite lime" beers, (Bud, Moose, Etc) I have...
