    Funny, BTUs maybe?

    Just crazy enough to work?

hmmm, now that is an interesting idea. But, I still want them to be separate. I'm going to have to move the kegerator from time to time so I plan to have it on casters. The whole thing needs to be detached. Thanks guys, sounds like this might not be a bad idea after all.

    Just crazy enough to work?

I was wondering about that. See, the hole in the chest freezer is likely to not be airtight - I'm not too worried about it as cool air sinks - and I was thinking that air might be drawn back into the keggerator through that. Although, this air would be warm and probably cause the freezer to work...

    Just crazy enough to work?

I was going to post this one in the "weird @$$ ideas" forum but I can't find it . . . So, I've got this kegerator project that I'm working on (I'll post pics later) and it got me thinking. If I've got a hole cut in the top of my chest freezer anyway, why not run a hose coming out of it to a...

    Plate chiller vs. immersion

https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=13774&highlight=chiller Oops, sorry that link is for plate vs. counterflow. . . I'd say plate over immersion every time.

how much is an old keg worth?

I just bought one the other day from a scrap yard for $15. Its all beat to hell though. It has several large gashes in the top - since I'm cutting the top out who cares. The scrap yard guy thought I was crazy to want a dinged up punctured keg!

    CO2 - In or Out?

I don't believe that it matters. I've seen both, mine is in but its taking up space that could hold another keg so it may come out.

Is a 30 quart brew kettle big enough?

I'll second (or third, or fourth) that it can be done - I've got 9 all-grain full boils under my belt (on a 7.5 gal pot) now and haven't boiled over yet. But, you've gotta stay on top of it. If I were buying a pot right now I'd go for at least 40 qt. just so I could walk away a little more...

Look at these stock pots, which one should I get?

How do you know it doesn't already?? wait, don't answer that.

Look at these stock pots, which one should I get?

This looks like a flippin' sweet deal to me: http://cgi.ebay.com/40-Quart-Stock-Pot-Aluminum-POT-40CR-POT-40_W0QQitemZ110033458458QQihZ001QQcategoryZ20630QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem But, its aluminum - and as you all know "aluminum gives you diseases and makes your beer taste like...

    Plate chiller vs. counterflow

OK, you get one made for me at your work and I'll give you $25. How's that sound?:) Or better yet, I'll etch you a custom set of glasses and pitcher. Thanks for the replies guys. based on what you're saying, if I can find a good price on a plate chiller it might be the way to go.

    Plate chiller vs. counterflow

Yeah, but that guy said he recommended buying one because his leaks so much . . . But, does that guy have any experience with a plate chiller?

    Plate chiller vs. counterflow

I'm just curious if anyone feels strongly one way or the other. I'm just about sick of stirring my immersion cliller for 20 minutes after boil and am looking into one of the other two options. It seems that I can get either for around $70-$80 bought. I know I could make the counterflow easy...

    Homemade Stir Plate

I second that! I'd like to see what it takes to make one of these.

    Cheap all-grain equipment

I've used my 7 gal Alluminum pot (from a kit like that) for both of the All-grain batches that I've done and had little trouble with boilovers. If you catch it right at boil and adjust the flame accordingly you should be fine. I've only had one on the first batch and none on the second. It will...

    Cheap all-grain equipment

Once again, I suggest the "simple all-grain" HERE It'll get you started and if you don't like it you've got very little invested and its still usable for other stuff. That site is a goldmine if you ask me!

    Conditioned Fermenter "Chamber"

Wow, that is very cool but way over my head. I'd love to see some idiot proof plans for artist types . . .

    Let's talk brewstands....

That is a great deal on those burners I think that based on some of the deals I've seen that someone should post a thread with all the deals that they've found on. Maybe one of the mods could make it a sticky? I'd start it but I have no real deals to post. . . .
