Brew Bucket by SS Brewing Technologies

Hey All, Great thread on these SS Buckets! Just wanted to make a quick mention that we do have these in stock, and they'll be in both of our warehouses soon enough. They are selling pretty quickly, and I'm not sure when the next shipment is coming in, so wanted to give everyone that is...

    home made chill wizard/sabco

Do you plan on taking it apart to clean after each use? Make sure you get a really good CIP system going - a plate chiller isn't easy to keep clean on its own, let alone with all that hard plumbing running to/from it! Looks great though; nicely done.

    Heat sanitizing corny's

Remove the posts and diptubes, put small parts in a boiling pot of water and bake the beverage out diptube in your oven. Then do a PBW / StarSan soak as butterpants recommended and you'll be good to go!

    Conical Fermenter

Just need to throw this out there - if you're referring to a MoreBeer! Heated and Cooled Conical, you'll need to fill it to the recommended batch size :) Cooling units don't operate correctly unless they're covering your fermenting wort! Cheers

    Whole hops & chugger pump

Don't dump them in! You will clog your ball valve / pump. I highly recommend a hop bag or kettle screen when using whole leave hops. It's possible that you won't clog, but if I had to put money on it, I would bet that you clog either your valve or pump. I speak from experience... :o

    More Beer heading to PA

Hey All, Just found this post - wish I had done so sooner! Here's a little clarity for some questions you might have: Our new location is in Ambridge, PA. It will just be a distribution center unfortunately, and will not currently allow for will calls, order pickup, etc. The good news is...

    Temperature contol probe

You could use a hooded or stopper thermowell: http://morebeer.com/products/hood-thermowell-3-5-6-65-gallon-smooth-neck-carboys-15.html This way you're reading the temperature of your actual fermentation, which can sometimes be 7-10°F above what the outside / ambient temperature is. If you...

    Speidel Braumeister (brewmaster)

Hey sentfromspain, That's a good question. Can I answer with another though? -Why would you want to chill the wort through a tap tower? I honestly don't think that the 28°F is going to stay 28°F for too long with hot wort running through it. I think your best bet is to use a glycol unit...

    Speidel Braumeister (brewmaster)

Hunmojo, I would recommend getting the 50L personally. With the 50L, you'll be able to get the 20L malt pipe should you wish to do 5-6 gallon batches. Something to note though: You'll be limited on the OG on either of these. You wouldn't be able to get the 50L, fit more grain and less...

equipment upgrade: what should I buy next?

You can still make good beer in bottles - so kegs wouldn't change the quality. What you're really weighing here (kegging or larger kettle) is convenience over quantity. I personally would recommend kettle instead of kegging. While I love my kegging setup as much as anything else in my...

What are your "can't live without" equipment items?

Temp controlled fermentation! You can brew some awesome beer with basic equipment - that batch could be terrible without a controlled fermentation. Cheers!

Has anyone ever used this kind of keg?

Hey basilchef, These little kegs / CO2 injectors do work great for serving beer. The CO2 injector will not carbonate, but it will push the beer for you. You would be able to prime the beer / carbonate in the keg with priming sugar if you wish to. This is a little tricky however, as you'll...

    Problems using my Refractometer

I'd agree with Bobby M that you probably pulled a preboil sample from a concentrated pocket / volume. Were you recirculating the mash? Did you pull the sample for preboil when the boil kettle was full, or while it was filling? If you pulled the reading while you were still filling your boil...

    New! Blichmann 55 Gallon Extension..

Just a quick FYI to anyone that owns the Blichmann 55 Gallon BoilerMaker - they just released an extension that can be attached to the 55 Gallon kettle. This extension turns the 1BBL kettle into a 2BBL kettle, holding a total of 100 gallons. Comes with a sight gauge, gasket, and removal tool...

    Anyone recognize this fitting?

Looks familiar... http://morebeer.com/view_product/8423/103458/Heavy_Duty_Brew_Kettle_-_With_Ball_Valve_60_Quart_15_Gallon Scroll down a little to see the "cutout" picture. These are the standard fitting on the ball valve port of MoreBeer!'s heavy duty kettle line. We don't currently offer...

Window AC Unit as a glycol chiller?

Alright - so here are a few pictures of the AC glycol unit. I have it set to 30F with a 4 degree differential. The reservoir is a white cooler (72 quart I believe). We cut half of the top off and screwed the AC unit on the right side. The other half had 4 cup holders, which we drilled out...

Window AC Unit as a glycol chiller?

I have one of these at home, and it works really well. I use a single stage un-wired Ranco controller, and you'll need to bypass the temperature sensor on your AC unit so that it knows to turn on/off when the Ranco's probe tells it to. You'll submerge the cooling apparatus (looks like a car's...
