    Small scale BIAB.

I'm a small scale brewer. I've brewed 5 gallon batches for years. But now, I've switched to 2.5 gallons and smaller. It seems to me that the full size bags are a bit of overkill. Does anyone know of a smaller bag that would be a bit more manageable for my operation? Thanks folks, I don't know...

    BIAB Efficiency

I'm an old school all grain brewer who has just recently came back to the addiction! Since I'm moving to smaller batches (1.5 maybe 2 gallon batches) and use the BIAB method. My question: What do I have to do to maximize efficiency? I have a love of Mild Ales and Brown Ales. I'd like to do what...

My order from the Homebrewery landed!!!!

Well, I got my fresh yeast replacements for a batch of cider and sanitation supplies. Since my hospital stay in Aug. getting around and stamina in my legs has been a challenge, but I'm managing. Got around and dug out all of my brewing equipment and took stock of what I have. 3 kettles, 3 gal, 4...

    Scaling recipes

In your experience, can you scale your batches down by half? What I mean is, can I cut all ingredients by half to make a half batch? 5 gallons a bit much for just me. Thanks all

    2.5 gallon glass carboys

I was in the process of shifting over to Better Bottles, but I stumbled onto this and could not pass it up. I scored three 2.5gal glass carboys for $9.95 each including the spring water inside. Mountain Valley Spring Water out of Mt. Home Arkansas still puts these out. Snagged them at my local...

    Advice needed

I tried my hand at my 1st mead. Very simple recipe in a 1 gal jug, 2 lbs honey, 1 gal apple juice and cinnamon stick and cloves. It's the 4th day in and bubbles are starting to pop out. My problem: It would seem that I didn't get it mixed well and the honey has settled to the bottom!!!!!! I...

    Back to the Stovetop

Alright y'all, I'm needing some brain power. Had planned on brewing this last weekend, but a winter storm caused 2 solid days of rain and put a stop to that. While I was sitting there mopeing I started thinking about moving back into the kitchen. I dug out the old 5 gal kettle and started...

    My first Corny

A local convenience store was going out of business and the owner gave me a corny keg (friend of mine). The issue is: This is my first corny and it's full. Whats the safest way to relieve the pressure and dump the Dr. Pepper? I'd prefer not taking a shower in the syrup. Thanks y'all. Karma

    I must confess

One of my local large grocery chains has all New Belgium products on sale--$6 a six pack. I like Fat Tire, but had never had a chance to try any of their other lines. So I did a BAD thing!! Since they all look alike in a six pack, I mixed a sixer with Blue Paddle, 1554, and Skinny Dip...

For those who brew with kits

I had an email chat with the folks at AHS about scaling their kits to different sizes, example: 2.5 gal, 5 gal, and 10 gal. Would anyone else see this as a nice option?

    Yeast starter for small batches

Here's a curve ball for y'all. I've decided that brewing smaller batches (2.5 gal) will be more economical in my search for those recipes that I like. I blame Chris from BYO for giving me this curse :p My question is: How can I give my yeast the best start? I understand re hydrating dry...

    New MLT on the cheap

Well, I realized that my 5 gal Gott MLT wasn’t going to let me brew the beers that I wanted to brew. So I went out after a Victory 48 qt cooler. I went to Wally World and surprisingly they were out of them, but they were just putting a new shipment of the 50 qt Ice Cubes on the shelves...
