    Excited!

Just racked my chocolate covered BEAVR NUTZ to the secondary. (Midwest brewing) The gravity sample tasted pretty damn good, even without the peanut butter. Along with the peanut butter that I added, I have a feeling it's going to be the best beer I've ever brewed. I can't wait!!!

    Help!

I made a high gravity beer and today is the day to bottle. Like a dummy, I didn't measure f.g. Until after I started to rack it onto the priming sugar. My gravity is 1.030. Target f.g. Is 1.017-1.022. O.g. Was 1.090. Should I rack it back to the fermenter and hope it finishes up? I think it...

    Looking for advice

This weekend, I'm getting ready to brew the biggest beer I've ever brewed. It's called opus 10. It's an imperial chocolate coffee stout. O.G. Is projected to be in the 1.095 range. I'm doing a yeast starter, and I'm worried about an explosion in my closet as it ferments. I use the 6 gallon...

    Need advice

I have 3 oz. of homegrown cascade hops and a packet of us05 yeast. What kind of grains should I get, and how much, to make a simple brew? I like ipa's but I'm not sure my hops have enough AA. Maybe a bitter of or pale sle would work. I'd like to do a biab. I have an 8 gallon brew pot, so brew...

    Quick sugar question

I plan on making some apfelwein this weekend and don't have any corn sugar. Is there an acceptable substitute? I don't live near a homebrew store, so that's not really an option. I'm sure it's been answered here before, but I couldn't find it. Cheers!

    When

Anybody know when northern brewer normally ships their hop rhizomes that I pre-ordered? I'm getting antsy. :)

    Any eastern shore brewers?

Anybody? Seems like everyone is from Delaware or western shore.

    hmmmm....

So I'm all ready to brew a dunkleweizen from northern brewer and I open the box to find a Munich malt syrup and a pilsen malt syrup. They sent me pilsen instead of wheat. I'm gonna go with it and see how it turns out. Any predictions?

    general extract fruit question

I just ordered a northern brewer American wheat beer extract kit and 3 lb can of blueberry puree. Should I put the puree in the primary or in the secondary and rack on top of it? Are there different effects between doing one way or the other? As in more flavor or more fermentables?

    experimenting

I'm looking to try some new things with my brewing. I have a 2011 hopnog kit that I plan on brewing this weekend. I was thinking of adding some strawberries to the boil at the end and let them steep for a few minutes. A strawberry IPA. Bad idea? Should I just let it be and brew the hopnog as...

    boil

I've seen recipes that say to use only two gallons, for steeping the grains or for boiling the wort. Can I use the full 5 gallons? (Or 6 to compensate for boil off?) Is there a reason they say to use only 2?

    my new toy!

So excited. I can't wait to try it out!

    steeping grains

I'm still new to brewing, and am a little confused when it comes to steeping grains. I have done one kit that tells you to steep the grains up to 150*. Let it steep for I think it was 10 minutes or so. Another said to bring the water to 150* then steep the grains for 20 minutes. I'm eventually...

    what's brewing this weekend?

We're brewing up some brewers best oatmeal stout tomorrow. Also trying some dunkelweiss for the first time that we brewed. I have a question too..... I have a brewers best hopnog kit with the experimental hops. I probably won't brew it for about a month. Should I freeze the hops?

    one fermenter

I just recieved an extract kit and its saying i need a second ferment bucket. Im under the understanding that i can use only one. (i dont have a second one yet) How long do i let it ferment since i am only using one? Btw, its the northern brewer dunkelweizen kit. Thanks!

    weissbier

Does anybody have any suggestions or reviews on a dunkel weissbier kit and where to get it? I saw one on hombrewery.com but i wanted other options. Im trying to replicate edleweis dunkel. Thanks!

So whats the best way to get a hydrometer without contaminating the beer? Its been fermenting a little over a week in a plastic bucket. Should i just open it up an suck some out with a sanitized turkey baseter?
