Looks like a winner recipe man! Let us know how it tastes after it is carbed/cold. And post a glorious picture of course! If you like it, I may be brewing something similar soon. -Steve

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Just mashed in! IPA with Nugget, Magnum, and Cascade hops. Odd combo but there was slim pickings at my LHBS and I wanted to experiment

American IPA Bee Cave Brewery IPA

Brewed this a few weeks ago as my first all-grain.. and man it came out great! Thanks for the awesome, simple recipe. My OG was a little high as I boiled off more than I anticipated. OG was 1.070 and was still able to get it down to 1.015 in two weeks. Awesome beer!

    Genius or exercise in futility?

Subscribed. I'm really interested to hear how this experiment goes! I'm sure you'll learn a lot about the subtle differences

My wife just called my latest brew the best beer she'd ever had

I'm curious how you figured this out on your equipment? I'm new to all grain and had a similar problem. Did you up your initial boil volume?

Transferred to Secondary.. Specific Gravity too high - Suggestions?

My mash temps were actually really good this time and I had a good OG. I think I'm going to research how to make a starter because that seems to be the way to go with dry yeast. Thanks for the input!

Transferred to Secondary.. Specific Gravity too high - Suggestions?

Thanks BoRnEz thats a good point about rousing up the yeast. I'll hope it works! It was looking to be a great blonde ale.

Transferred to Secondary.. Specific Gravity too high - Suggestions?

Thanks for the advice PoppinCaps - It was my second all-grain attempt actually. And I've been doing the same thing, transferring to secondary to clear it up some. But I am thinking about just doing a primary and seeing how that works out. Glad to hear I still might be alright, and I'll...

    Fermenting Question

SG is specific gravity. People usually refer to OG (original gravity, before fermentation) and FG (final gravity, after fermentation before bottling/kegging). You're OG of 1.072 is fine.. a couple points off doesnt make much of a difference! Going a little longer in the primary is better from...

Transferred to Secondary.. Specific Gravity too high - Suggestions?

Hey all, I'm only on my 3rd batch and think I may have made a mistake. I brewed a Blonde Ale last week using SAF-05 and it had very vigorous fermentation for the first day, died off a bit and then came back just as vigorous for another 2-3 days. After a week I hadnt seen any more signs of...

    first all grain tomorrow

Do it once, and you'll see what the hard parts are. Then read all about the steps that are hard for you and you'll hit your OG dead on your second time - that's how it went for me :) good luck!

    Noob needs help

Sounds like you got pacifico bottles (if they are brown) or corona bottles (if they are clear). Just bottled my IPA batch today and used a couple corona bottles and it turned out fine. Good luck brewin mate!

Slow start to fermention - first time with SAF-05. Advice?

Well you all were right! It took about 2 days to start fermenting but I definitely have some airlock activity now. It seems slightly slower than usual but that could be for any number of reasons. Thanks for the support... I guess I'm just another junior member who worries when things don't go...

Slow start to fermention - first time with SAF-05. Advice?

Ya I definitely will wait I was asking what the best way to approach adding more yeast would be in case it had gotten to a point past 3 days and still nothing

Slow start to fermention - first time with SAF-05. Advice?

So what is all of your advice about pitching more yeast since mine has not started still? Should I rehydrate another pack of 05 and pitch it in?
