Is my siphon oxygenating my beer?

This is true. I thought I could find a way to slowly/calmly pour, but that was just ridiculous. BUBBLE QUESTION SOLVED. It actually is a poor seal. Its the rubber plunger inside the siphon. The vacuum created by the downward fall of the beer out of the siphon is greater than that of what the...

Is my siphon oxygenating my beer?

I tell y'all what. I brewed 2 hefe batches and 2 Altbiers 2 weeks apart, exact same recipes, just different yeast on both (trying a homemade yeast comparison). The Hefe and Alt I currently have on tap were my first 2 kegs and both seemed slightly cardboardy. I'm about to keg the other Hefe and...

Is my siphon oxygenating my beer?

I think that he is asking about is when you have most of the beer racked out of the carboy and gravity is noticing the higher lift required in order to pull the beer all the way up the tube before going back down again. A small pocket of bubbles sits and seems to "gargle" at the apex of the...

    7.5 month old tripel conundrum...

I'm assuming that I will learn to not rush in brewing a few more times. I waited for one response and ran with it due to time constraints (although I waited months, I know.). SO, racked with priming sugar and bottled. Crap. Now what? Trash 'em, remove caps and sprinkle a tiny amount of champagne...

    7.5 month old tripel conundrum...

Followed instructions as was told by a more experienced brewer (@ the time), and fermed primary for 3 weeks, and has been in secondary glass carboy for 7ish months now. Want to bottle but curious whether my yeast still has any umph. ???

    Fire!!!

Anyone ever experience accidental fires while brewing? Propane tank, gas stove, electrical stove? Had a scare yesterday while brewing an Alt and a Hefe and wondered if anyone's ever had anything bad happen that the rest if us could learn from.

VANILLA BEANS?! Oh, and hello (noob)!

Well, I added my priming sugar (like an idiot) for the first time to my secondary fermenter right after that post. Split, scraped, and soaked the bean (1 bean) in 2 ounces of good bourbon for 2 days, poured it into the then bubbling again secondary, then racked into bucket and bottled 18 days...

VANILLA BEANS?! Oh, and hello (noob)!

New guy here, from just outside Atlanta. When you split vanilla beans to add to a secondary (oatmeal stout), do I add all the seeds 'n stuff, too?

Dusseldorf Altbier Brewery visit - Fuchschen - Pics & Youtube

Super jealous. I'm about half-way through 5 gal of my 1st Altbier now. I'm loving it so much but my 1st two reviews from friends didn't yeild great reviews due to them not knowing what an Alt should taste like... so the rest is for me! Cheers fellow Alt fans.
