Thanks, I did check there briefly yesterday too, but didn't see anything. I'll email them to see if they can tell me anything.

I picked up some old brass mushroom type beer towers, need help with the shanks...

Like the title says, I picked up a couple of used brass mushroom type beer towers a little while ago, and I'd like to restore them. The faucets will need to be rebuilt, and that's not a problem, they're all standard faucets. However, the shanks for the towers are smaller than standard shanks...

PLEASE let the Northern Brewer buy-out be a hoax!

We do, www.southernhillshomebrew.com, but we don't really do mail order (unless you really want to). Also, we are in the process of changing our POS and ecommerce software, so inventory levels on the website are not to be believed. We've also added about 50 products recently that aren't listed...

PLEASE let the Northern Brewer buy-out be a hoax!

If they won't tell you (and they should) then you should ask. Otherwise you're probably paying a premium for the cheapest malt that they can pawn off on you. I've had distributors tell me that I should just generically label my malt so that I can just give out whatever I feel like needs to...

30 Smack Pack Starter With Multiple Strains - All Expired

Bringing this thread back to the top - I too run a homebrew shop and yesterday I followed Sudbuddy's lead and made a Frankenyeast with 59 packs of expired yeast and a 5 gallon starter. I'll be giving it out at our store this weekend. Here are the strains that I thew in there: Vendor Strain...

    Motorized Monster Mill Build

Finally got everything wired today and milled some grain. This thing is a beast. So, for posterity's sake, here is my finished working drum switch wiring for the Leeson M6C17FK80E 1HP motor: SW1: T2, T4 SW2: L2 SW3: T8 SW4: T5 SW5: P1, T3 SW6: L1 Ground to switch chassis and...

    Motorized Monster Mill Build

I will definitely look up your build. One thing in your wiring is that I don't see L2, or neutral. **Edit:** I looked up your build, I like it a lot. It's very clean looking. One thing though, we are using different motors, and that's what's throwing me. My motor is at work, but I found...

    Motorized Monster Mill Build

Yes, the wires are marked - P1, P2, T2, T3, T4, T5, T8. What's throwing me is the P2 wire. Would I use the original switch diagram that drunkenmonk posted: and just use P1 as T1 and tape off P2?

    Motorized Monster Mill Build

The wiring diagram for the motor is here: http://www.leeson.com/CnxDocRequest/PublishedPDF/grf_swd-0130015736_00500303_402810276_355.pdf Every single damn wire is yellow.

    Motorized Monster Mill Build

Hey guys, I just bought a MM3-Pro and I am trying to motorize it. I was able to find this Leeson motor: https://www.surpluscenter.com/Electrical/AC-Motors/AC-Motors-Base-Mount/1-HP-1800-RPM-115-230-VAC-56C-TEFC-LEESON-MOTOR-W-MANUAL-OVERLOAD-10-2706.axd and I am using the switch from the...

Last week I opened my very own LHBS and I wanted to share some pics

For the most part the grains turn over really well. We have a couple that don't and they get replaced by something else. Good luck with IT, after 20 years I decided that it just wasn't for me anymore.

Last week I opened my very own LHBS and I wanted to share some pics

Sorry about the (lack of) updates. Things are going well, I suppose. We are now about 11 months in to this thing and we're paying all of our bills, which is good. I haven't yet taken a dime from the store and every dollar that comes in goes right back in to expanding our inventory and...

Who can tell me about Better Bottles?

Use a #10 stopper or one of the buon vino stoppers. The orange and burgundy caps are made for glass carboys.

Will this cheap 3500 watt induction burner work?

I have an OLD Brewer's Best 10 gallon stainless kettle and it works fine with my induction cooktop, it is also non-magnetic. I have a newer 15 gallon Polar Ware kettle that is also non-magnetic and works. I am not using any plates or other "helpers" with these pots. I would ask around and...

Homebrew Store in a dry county

How far is it to the next "wet" county? Open up a shop right on the county line closest to the main population center of the "dry" county. I opened an LHBS earlier this year (just about exactly 6 months ago, actually) and I have customers that drive for over an hour to get to me. Some from...

what to do with Cascades from 2011?

You could try following his advice, or... if you have the patience you could maybe use those for a lambic. My concern in using 2 to 3 times the amount you normally would is that those hops are going to suck up A LOT of your wort.
