    Regulator issue. Need help fast.

I have a dual gauge regulator, the kind that you can have 2 beers on at differing pressures. One keg holds its PSI exactly like I want it. The other one continues to increase pressure no matter what. Even if I turn the dial all the way to off. Its already way over carbed one beer. What...

    Foamy beer

I've got a brown ale on tap that is incredibly foamy. My other brews haven't ever given me any problems. 10 ft lines, I've tried everywhere from 5-12 psi. Any idea why this one might be so foamy?

    All grain gravity is off

I brewed an Amber Ale 6 weeks ago. It was my 2nd AG batch. My target OG was 1.052 but I ended up with an OG of 1.062. I am not sure why but I think it was because my efficiency jumped quite a bit from batch one to batch two. Today I went to keg it and my FG is 1.024. That seems kind...

    Yeast starter?

I Brew five gallon batches. All but one have been extract. I've got an all grain fermenting right now, and will typically be brewing Ag from now on. I have never made a starter. I use wyeast and just pitch it in. Do I need to make a starter now that I'm brewing all grain? Does it matter?

    2nd All Grain batch question

For my first all grain batch, my OG was a little low. I think I've addressed some of the efficiency errors I made, but I'd like to cover all the bases, so to speak, for my next batch. Do I take a gravity reading BEFORE I start the boil and AFTER the mash? If not, how would I know to add...

    HLT question

I've got a 10 gallon cooler mash tun. I'd like to make a HLT to go along with it. Would it be alright to use a 5 gallon igloo cooler for that? Or will I need a 10 gallon one? I only do 5 gallon batches. But you know how that goes, as soon as I say that's all I do I'll want to upgrade to 10...

    Fermenter and Keezer

I just completed this collar for my fermentation chamber. Its a Kenmore 5 cf chest freezer. I used appliance paint to paint it black, and a piece of 1x8 red oak for the collar. That way it matches my keezer that I built last month. Now I can ferment two beers at once in there. I'm...

    Hefe add ins?

I've never added anything to the fermenter. I'm brewing a hefe this afternoon and thought I'd add something for a little extra flavor. maybe a slight orange flavor? Do I just throw some orange peels in there or is there something special I have to use? Any other favorites to add into a hefe?

First go at all grain...batch sparging...efficiency?

I've decided to try my hand at all grain. For my first batch, I am going to brew a Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar clone. I'll post the recipe below. I am using a cooler mash tun with a stainless braid (just like Fly guy's pretty much). I am going to batch sparge. Questions: I bought...

    Nut flavor in brown ale?

I brewed a nut brown ale, and it tasted pretty good. Only problem was that I didn't get any of the nutty flavor in it. Is there something I can add during the boil that will make the nut flavor come out a little more?

    Mash Tun Question

I hear/see people talk about having a false bottom in their mash tun. But I came across this thread: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/cheap-easy-10-gallon-rubbermaid-mlt-conversion-23008/ All he uses is a stainless steel braid. Is there any real advantage to using a false bottom...

    First time to keg

I've got my keezer functional, now it's time to keg some beer. How do I do that? I've read to purge the oxygen out of the keg by putting 30 psi through re empty keg. But for how long? After that do I just syphon the beer into the keg? Do I then purge it again? How long this time? How much...

    All grain equipment

I've been brewing 5 gallon extract batches. My current equipment is: 7 gallon stainless steel pot 7 gallon brew bucket 2 carboys What else do I need to go to all grain brewing? I still want to stick to 5 gallon batches. Also, I'm sure it's been discussed quite a bit, but can someone point...

I accidentally switched the hops ***urgent***

I'm brewing an amber ale. Recipe called for an oz of cascades at the beginning of the boil and an oz of saaz with 15 left. I accidentally poured the saaz at the beginning. What is the best solution here? Do I pour the cascades at the 15 mark? Will this make my beer taste different? Did I ruin it?

To leave air, or not to?

I am building a cabinet enclosed keezer and am losing sleep over this question. On the one hand, I hear people say that putting a skin on the actual freezer will cause it to work too hard and overheat. On the other hand, I hear people say that leaving an inch or two of air between (even...

    cooling my keezer

can anyone point me to a thread that goes through the process of wiring a fan for the inside of the keezer that pushes air upwards? Where do you get a fan? What size? How much do the cost? Do I just run a chord to plug into the temp. controller and make it kick on when the freezer does...

    Kegs, now what?

Okay, I've been trying to decide whether its cheaper to just get one of the starter keg kits off of midwest or from my local homebrew store or if its cheaper to piece one together myself. I know I need kegs and a co2 tank. Is there a detailed list of the exact pieces I need to complete a 2...

    Keezer question

I've read through as many keezer threads as I can find, and I have a question. If I am building a cabinet around my freezer, is it imperative to leave room from the wall of the freezer to the cabinet? Also, if it is necessary for space between the freezer wall and the cabinet, do I have to...

Ready to take the next step...

I've brewed 4 batches. All of them different types of ales. All of them were from Extract kits, and they have all tasted great so far. I have a lager with DME ready to brew next. I feel like I have kind of hit a wall. What is the next step in brewing? Partial mash? Make my own recipe...
