Show Me Your Wood Brew Sculpture/Rig

My BIAB brewstand with gallows to pull out the bag.

Show us your sculpture or brew rig

Here's my simple BIAB system. I use two 2000 W heating elements run from two different circuits. Pot is 40 qt. This is the control box. One element is on/off only, the other onr regulated by a PWM circuit.

    Biab

My standard protocol for beers up to 1.060 is to mash in 7 gallons of water. I do squeeze out some after I pull the bag but not excessively. I usually get about 6.25 gallons preboil volume and a bit over 5 gallons when I'm done. I use a 40qt pot with steamer insert. I don't really brew high...

Need advice on modifying mini-fridge with "freezer" top for kegerator

There it is. Note that the coffin box sits on top of the collar, not the actual fridge.

Need advice on modifying mini-fridge with "freezer" top for kegerator

I did not want to take the chance on mine and built a wooden collar of about 8 inches to make it deeper, just like the keezer guys do, the reattached the door. Used the wood collar to add a coffin box for the taps on top of the fridge.

AG adding water after the boil?

Why not keep the grain in your grain bag right away? That way you will just have to take it out of your boil kettle. Let the bag drain as much as possible either directly into the boil kettle or into a separate pot and then add that back to your boil kettle. This way you won't have to transfer...

eBIAB Keggle conversion setup: feeling overwhelmed

Looks fairly similar to what I'm doing. I just got my pot a couple of days ago and some fittings from bargains fittings yesterday. I have been debating 240V vs 110V and I think I am going to go with 2 2000W 110V elements. In only brew 5 Ga batches. When I want to brew in the garage I can just...

    Ok what happened here?

Yeah I don't think anymore that it is infection. It's by far less sour tasting than it used to be. It still has an aftertaste that I don't particulalrly care for but as I said it is drinkable now. Maybe I don't like the fuggles and ekg very much. Difficult to say with not much experiwnce under...

    Ok what happened here?

Thanks for the suggestions. I did all the calculations on ibrewmaster on my ipad. Good program btw. I think you're right about the crystal. As far as alc content for an ordinary bitter goes, iBrewmaster lists 3.2 to 3.8% as per bjcp. I'm happy to report that it's definitely getting better with...

    Ok what happened here?

Thanks, I was going for something a bit lighter and it's just under 4% ABV. The numbers are right there for a Standard/Ordinary Bitter but maybe I was a bit too frugal with the malt there after all. I'll give it another week or so before feeding the sewer rats with it. F

Planning out my electric BIAB setup

From what I have seen here on the forums the PWM route might be the cheapest.....but I might have to learn how to solder......yyyrrrrch!!!!!

    Ok what happened here?

I have only been brewing for a short time, this is my fourth batch to be specific. Was very pleased with my beer until this last batch. I was trying my hand on an english style Pale Ale: 3 lbs light DME 1.5 lbs amber dry DME 0.5 lbs biscuit and 0.5 lbs crystal 60L steeped for 30 min 1oz...

Planning out my electric BIAB setup

Yes I saw quite a few posts about that. I was hoping to keep costs down though. With all the stuff for heater elements, fittings, breakers etc it's already going to add up to quite a bit, so I was hoping to do it less expensively. I really don't mind manually controlling things. Maybe a PWM...

Planning out my electric BIAB setup

Unless I don't really understand the specs it's only rated for 5A and a 4500W element will pull about 19A.

Planning out my electric BIAB setup

OK, the temp controller is not going to work for this, so I guess infinite switch it is.

Planning out my electric BIAB setup

Hi everyone, I'm planning to set up a small BIAB brewery in my garage. In a nutshell this is what I'm thinking about: Install a 240 VAC circuit ( I have a couple of empty slots in the subpanel in my garage). Run that into the ubiquitously mentioned HD 50 buck spa panel. I accidentally bought...

    Minifridge kegerator/fermentation chamber combo?

So, a while back I converted a minifridge to a kegerator. I built an 8 inch collar on the front and reattached the fridge door. For the faucets I built an insulated wooden box on top of the collar (see first pic, taken before I finished it). Works splendidly and I have been enjoying my brews...

    First time kegging, CO2 problem

OK thanks guys, makes me feel better. I tightened all connections again this morning and hooked it back up. Guess i just wasn't expecting that much change.

    First time kegging, CO2 problem

Hi all, So I kegged my first batch last night. Checked for gas leaks pretty carefully using soapy water, tightened a few connections where I was getting small leaks, then put everything in the fridge including the gas tank. Tank was full. This morning the needle was barely in the Green pressure...

    Sanyo 4433s

I was stuck with the same issue with a whirlpool mini fridge. I decided to put an 8 inch insulated wood collar in front of the fridge and put the door back on. That way the fridge is 8 inches deeper and I should not have a problem fitting two cornys in. The other nice thing about it is that the...
