Can you Brew It recipe for Firestone Walker Union Jack

Reviving this old thread because Union Jack is so delicious! I'm brewing this tomorrow with WLP 200 and CTZ instead of Warrior. Plan to ferment at 65*. Curious how WLP 200 will do with this english inspired west coast IPA. Cheers!

WLP200 Best of Both Worlds - New White Labs Blend

Just now noticed that More Beer has done some of the work on this strain. http://morebeer.com/images/file.php?file_id=2292 They did a trial split batch with 001, 002, and 200 and found that it attenuates like 001 and flocculates like 002, the ester profile is in between 001 and 002. And they...

WLP200 Best of Both Worlds - New White Labs Blend

Anyone have fermentation temperature thoughts on this yeast? I'm doing a clone of Union Jack with wlp 200 this weekend. Was thinking of fermenting at 68* because that's the overlapping recommended temp range for 001 and 002 according to white labs. Thoughts? Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

24hr lagtime between sparge and boil

Are you opposed to mini-mashing? Using DME can shave off 1-2 hrs easily. Even though I do all grain now, some of my favorite beers were made with extract.

    Yeast Pitching and Final Gravity??

I'm with Yooper. The grain bill is going to make this beer super sweet. Honey malt is pretty strong stuff. What style are you shooting for?

Homebrew as Wedding Favors? Bottle Questions

+1 on the creative label idea. Forget fancy bottles and just go for standard brown beer bottles with cool labels. You've got a year, start saving up the bottles! I personally like the bottles from Deschutes Brewery, the labels come off cleanly and they have hop cones imprinted on them.

    Moonlight's Death & Taxes

Hey Brewing Clamper, Did you ever brew another batch of Death and Taxes? I love this beer and it would be awesome to have a recipe that gets close to the original. Cheers!

Sizing your Chest Freezer for Corny Kegs

Yes, the GE holds 4 ball locks on the floor and it is a tight fit. I'm also trying the thermostat mod so I don't have to buy an external controller but its not looking so good for that (screw is all the way in but temp is hovering around 32F). Still, I'm happy with this keezer!!
