Hey, so I've been using the same plate chiller for about a year now, I wash it with boiling water after/before every brew session. I just don't think that's enough, I though about putting it in the oven but that'll just leave the residue in the chiller. Is there any liquid I can send through...
hey everyone, I'm looking to buy Simcoe, Amarillo and Citra, anyone know where I can buy more than 2 lbs of these? I've only seen whole hops for amarillo and simcoe, are the pellets all sold out for the year?
yup, drinkable at first stage though you can definitely tell there's something wrong, no way is it drinkable now. Someone shed some light on this!! Please.. :D
I don't secondary and have temp control... I do use a plate chiller but the conical itself was clean as can be... I recirculate for 15 minutes of boiling water in order to clean the plate chiller.. What's weird is that it appears a couple of weeks into the fermenting phase.. Has me baffled...
co2 is heavier than oxygen so it forms a protective invisible cushion on the fermentor even when checking it as long as you're careful, conicals need not be air tight... this has happened to me on a carboy as well...
That's a picture from my conical.. Agree it looks similar to the pictures in that thread but no bubbles... What's weird is that all 3 times it has appeared AFTER fermentation has finished, this has been in the fermenter for 3 weeks and it wasn't there a week ago, temp was kept at 65 for the...
This is the third time this has happened... Does anyone know what kind of infection I have here? I have to get to the bottom of what's causing this, this is 15 Gallons... That's A LOT of beer going to waste...
Thought I'd do a follow up on my version of this. Judges scores were 33 and 32, not bad but I honestly thought it would do much better. It IS a fantastic beer and the comments of the judges said so as well, I entered it as a Belgian Specialty, perhaps I should have entered it as a tripel...
Last time i brewed this I got way too much banana even fermenting at 64, im doing it again tomorrow, has anyone tried overpitching to get a more subtle banana profile? I have a whole cake from a dunkelweizen, if you have overpitched, by how much? What were the results?
Thanks! Just ordered a pound of simcoe from label pealers and a pound of amarillo from homebrew heaven! and a ****load of other hops from farmhouse brewing.... hope they get here in time for a BIG brew weekend next week..
