Brewhouse IPA Hack - Hops^3 IPA

Wanted to add my review to this brew in case anyone was interested. Brewing was good, very straight forward, no issues. I've now had this batch kegged for a little over two weeks, set constantly at 12 psi. Taste - Very good. Decently hoppy, goes down smooth, bitter but not overpowering, quite...

CO2 Tank Refill in Vancouver, BC, Canada?

Thanks guys - ended up going to Royal City Fire Supplies in New West (http://www.royalcityfiresupplies.com/). Cost me $20 to get my 5lb tank filled, took less than 5 mins. They also do hydro-static testing for $20, which should be done every 5 years according to the lady at the store...

Update - Unfortunately the person I spoke with on the phone at Camoflauge misunderstood, they only have liquid CO2, same with all the local Paintball shops....so I'm back to desperately searching. Please help - anyone know anywhere in the Lower Mainland to get gas CO2 tanks filled?!?

Brewhouse IPA Hack - Hops^3 IPA

I've brewed Brewhouse kits previously, but not the IPA. Started this batch last Sunday and just racked to my secondary. Here is the recipe for anyone else interested: - Brewhouse IPA Kit (15L) - 4L of Whistler Springs Purified Water - Cooper's Dry Yeast (included with kit) - Dry Hopped...

CO2 Tank Refill in Vancouver, BC, Canada?

Seeing as there's no replies, I'll post what I've found so far incase anyone else in the 604 is wondering. Dan's does in fact only do exchanges. There is a military supply shop downtown called Camouflage that apparently does refills. I haven't been yet, but will go this week and report back on...

CO2 Tank Refill in Vancouver, BC, Canada?

Anyone know a shop/store near Vancouver that does CO2 tank fills? I believe Dan's Homebrew only does exchanges, but I own my own tank and don't want to exchange. Thanks for the help.

Kegerator Recommendation - Anyone Have Durafied DFK1077 or Nostalgia NRS-2150?

Thanks for your reply, so what put it over the top for you to build your own unit versus buying a pre-made unit? Was it the quality parts? The joy of building it yourself? The customization ability?

Kegerator Recommendation - Anyone Have Durafied DFK1077 or Nostalgia NRS-2150?

Bump - any feedback at all? On any non-homemade kegerator brands?? Someone must own one they'd recommend...

Kegerator Recommendation - Anyone Have Durafied DFK1077 or Nostalgia NRS-2150?

Thanks, not really looking to get into commercial grade at this point, just doesn't fit my budget. Anyone have any feedback on these? Or any other entry level Kegerator suggestions?

Kegerator Recommendation - Anyone Have Durafied DFK1077 or Nostalgia NRS-2150?

So I'm looking to purchase a pre-built Kegerator, and found a few models reasonable priced online. Does anyone have a Durafied DFK1077 or Nostalgia NRS-2150? Which one would you recommend? Does anyone have a review they could point me to? Thank-you

My 2nd Batch Log - Brewhouse Red Ale (Oktoberfest)

Update - the substance has subsided, although I'm still curious as to what it was... Checked the SG on Monday and Wednesday, and it appears to be stable at 1.010-1.012 (kit says under 1.020). So far so good I hope.

My 2nd Batch Log - Brewhouse Red Ale (Oktoberfest)

So It's been 3.5 days, took an SG reading tonight - was sitting at 1.010-1.012 (kit said 1.020 and under). I'm going away for a day so I'll check it again in a couple. One question though - I've got some crazy layer on the top, its bubbly and got a bit of thickness/texture to it....anything...

My 2nd Batch Log - Brewhouse Red Ale (Oktoberfest)

Have a question for you regarding the priming sugar. When I did my first batch, I think I did two things wrong - I don't believe I used boiling water, I think I just poured it into my beer. I also stirred it significantly, should I not do this? Thx

My 2nd Batch Log - Brewhouse Red Ale (Oktoberfest)

Thanks for your reply osagedr. Yes part of the reason I was planning to use liquid yeast is because it comes with the cooper's. Next time. I have heard all the recommendations for not using the secondary fermentation. I only have 1 fermenter and 1 carboy, so it's nice to rack to the...

Thanks. What about the taste? Or will the drop hops not affect that either? Will do.

My 2nd Batch Log - Brewhouse Red Ale (Oktoberfest)

So I began my second batch this morning, I went with a Brewhouse kit. I found out that the manufacturer is very close to where I live, and I can get them very fresh and for only $30 a kit! I was originally going to brew an IPA, but unfortunately they were all out of stock and aren't making...

WYeast Propagator - Can I Make A Starter with a Pre-Made Wort? Please Help!

Thanks for the help. I just pitched the dry yeast as advertised, and decided to toss the wyeast propogator. I'm a little upset they sold me the wrong one, but what can you do. Will definitely go with an activator pack for my next brew. Cheers

WYeast Propagator - Can I Make A Starter with a Pre-Made Wort? Please Help!

yes sorry - I'm still learning the terminology. That's correct it's a liquid malt extract, no-boil kit. So you're suggesting just use the dry yeast as advertised, and scratch the liquid for this batch? I'm kind of leaning this way after reading other threads...any more thoughts?
