    Connex brewhouse project

Hey all. Bought a used 20 ft shipping container to rig up to be a sweet brewhouse. I linned the walls in 3/4 inch styrafoam panels and studded the interior up. Gotta run by the box store and pick up an exterior door. I only want to close the doors when the weather is going to be bad so I'm...

    My beer is born!

I just kegged my Mcqueen's Nessie(my first brew) and its beautiful! I can't believe how well it clarified in the secondary. I drank the sample i drew and it is delicious. Now I have to wait 2 months for it to carb naturally. this is gonna be torture!

    Pin lock or ball?

I've been pricing to buy a kegging setup. Is there a good reason to go with one over the other? the pin locks are a bit cheaper so far. Is ball better? Thanks MrWibble

first brew in the secondary, now what is floating on the surface?

I transfered to the secondary after a vigorus ferment. Now that its been there for a week and I can see tiny white circles on the surface. Is it mold or small islands of bubbles? Freeking out! MrWibble

    secondary fermentation question

Its a quick one. i transfered to my glass carboy after about an 8 day vigorus primary. OG was 1.080 and FG was 1.014 (or close, hard to remember and i didn't record anything, oops..). Now its in the carboy and i see no activity in the lock. is that normal?

This may sound a bit silly to ask but....(HERMS)

I'm lurking about getting ideas for a HERMS rig. In learning the normal path most builders follow, I had a thought. Durring doughing in and mash recirculation, there is a need to stir a lot to prevent channeling. I wondered if instead of drawing wort off the bottom, circulated through the hex...

    touch screen all electric question

So I'm bit by bit buying the odds and ends to build my all electic nano-brewery. I'm probably going to just run a fairly simple pid and manual valve system to start it off. I saw some plans on this site of people running their brewery off a touch screen interface. My question is can I adapt a...

    diy oxy aeration

I was checking out mcmasters website looking for things i need to build and saw the bronze mufflers and thought that might make a sweet cheap aerator. Is the bronze going to leach anything into my beer? i know most valve housings are bronze but its not havis pure o2 being pushed through under...

helping a celiac friend drink beer again...

Howdy all, I have a friend with celiac and ran accross a GF extract kit at homebrewers.com. Has anyone tried it? I told him if he bought it, I'd brew it. I get from him that celiac afflicted people learn to eat crappy GF food or go with out and based on that I'm not expecting a fantastic...

New to brewing and want to keg

I just put my first brew in to ferment last night. its a red with peat smoked barley in with the grains(partial mash). I have .5 and oz of the styrian goldings left from the finishing. Would it be good to put it in cheese cloth and put it in the keg when its kegging time or would that be over...

    First batch ever

So last night I brewed up my first batch. Its a partial mash and it was as exciting as it was scary. I had a fairly big boil over and made a pretty good mess on the stove. My pot turned out to be too small and my wife had to run to wally world and buy a big pot for me. I had made my own wort...

    enzyme assistance question

Hello all, I'm going to brew up my first ever extract brew this weekend. In doing my home work I noticed some people have issues with extracts not converting completly to fermentable sugars resulting in final gravities being a bit high. Is there a way to assist the enzymes in their work? I...
