    How to use oak spindles?

Did a quick google search for ya, here are a couple links which may be helpful: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/question-about-oak-chips-81388/ http://www.fermentarium.com/homebrewing/brewing-beer/add-oak-to-beer/...

    Winter is coming.

Hooray for spam posts? At any rate, a quick update: I've been working on an electric setup for my basement which should be nice. My basement is approx 65 degrees year round which makes it nice. (I also have my dart board down there, my utility sink, and easy access to my beer fridge.) I've...

    Dummy it down for me...

If you look at this diagram: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f170/another-p-j-diagram-biab-5500w-single-vessel-single-pump-illuminated-switches-264251/ you can see that there's only one hot line running through the pump, so you're only running 120v to the pump. So the short answer would be "Yes." :)

Wiring assistance - single PID/SSR single kettle setup

Alrighty. Thanks for clearing that up. I didn't realize that it would cause the breaker to trip. That makes more sense now. :)

Wiring assistance - single PID/SSR single kettle setup

I'm still not really seeing how it diverts the power as the hookup for line 1 splits the current rather than being in-line. And if you read my question again, I said that I'd wire the outlet in 'before' the switch, not after it as the light is. :P

Wiring assistance - single PID/SSR single kettle setup

This looks like a nice simple design similar to what I need. I have a couple questions though. 1) If I don't want the light but want a plugin for a pump, can I replace the light with said plugin but wire it in just before that switch rather than just after it (and ground it of course)? That...

    Keg to ekeggle conversion pics

Any chance of getting a sketch out of a diagram of this? I love this and I can follow some of what's going on just from how neat you did this, but can't quite follow all of it. I've been slogging through the forums trying to find a wiring diagram to use on my single vessel eBIAB that I'm doing...

    Keggle BIAB Thermometer length

Update: I ordered the 4" stem. I figured I can craft some sort of shield for it if I need to.

    Keggle BIAB Thermometer length

I'm going to be using a sight glass/thermometer combo in my keggle and wondering about stem length on the thermometer. I was thinking that the shorter the better as it's less likely to catch on the bag, however I'm a little concerned that it might not get as accurate a reading. I'd like to...

eBIAB Keggle conversion setup: some help please

Reposting this from the Ebrewing forum since it's not getting any views and it's still appropriate here. --------- So I'm converting a Keggle to do eBIAB and after reading several forum posts I'm feeling kind of overwhelmed. I've got the basics of cutting the top, have a friend...

eBIAB Keggle conversion setup: feeling overwhelmed

So I'm converting a Keggle to do eBIAB and after reading several forum posts I'm feeling kind of overwhelmed. I've got the basics of cutting the top, have a friend helping me with the welding and am shopping for the parts I already have. Parts I have: Sanke Keg - removed spear and valve Auber...

    Oh no Yooper!

Yeah. I lived in St. Paul for quite a while and the rivalry is a little more heated there. :) I should lay low for a week after the way teams went for me last week (all my teams lost, and all the ones I wanted to lose, won) but I'm sure it'll go better next week.

    Oh no Yooper!

Yeah. Sorry all. I was shocked and dismayed to find that Yooper was a Pack fan. :( I had hoped that we could turn her from the dark side. I'm sure that she made the choice in a moment of weakness after too much homebrew. ;) That's the original post. Sorry I deleted it but I wasn't sure...

You win the internet. This is so awesome I have no words.... :D

    Winter is coming.

Well, my concern is less about the temp, and more about the windchill (I'm in the middle of the wind-capital of the country. We have wind farms. Although in the garage that's less of a concern unless the wind is blowing right in the door. I wouldn't be contemplating it if I couldn't deal with...

    General Brewing questiong regarding LME/DME

This. (for me) I made a cream ale from extract this spring and added about 2 lbs of wildflower honey (5 gal batch). It turned out fantastic. I ended up with about 7% ABV on that and drinking it really snuck up on you.

    Winter is coming.

Thanks. I think I'll get a CO detector for my brew areas regardless of which way I choose to go this winter. Anybody want to weigh in on the Electric brewing? :off: I've only seen a couple episodes of the HBO series, but have been an avid fan of the [first 3] books since high school...

    Winter is coming.

I have a dilemma. Winter is coming, and it's going to be cold as hell here before too long. I currently do my boil in the garage doorway and most of the rest of my stuff in the basement and kitchen. My garage is not insulated and there's the whole carbon monoxide thing. I have an electric...

    LHBS Prices... Why So Expensive?

I buy some equipment (carboys, etc) from my LHBS. They're either the same price or lower than NB and I don't have to pay the extra shipping. As far as why yours is higher priced, I'm guessing it's because the online sites do more volume, and therefore get bigger discounts from their suppliers...
