Thank you for your response G-String. I am fairly confident that my original yeast was not particularly healthy. Besides, I cannot wholeheartedly agree that healthily pitched ale lager have the same lag time as ale yeasts, but, as with most homebrew matters, it's really just a matter of opinion...
