Oh... It turned out awesome. Haven't had a side by side but it is almost exactly what I remembered.

    Saison du BUFF help

Ah.... I had a little more than I thought I would (wouldn't all fit in 2 carboys) so I removed a bit of the mash and added it to some lower gravity sparge runoff to make a "small" beer. I put my herb/spice bag into this one along with some clove, cinnamon, coriander and allspice. It...

    Saison du BUFF help

Wanted to check out the recipe on this one now that the "official" one is out in the book. Looks like it was pretty close. It was about 5lbs domestic two row, 5lbs Pilz instead of 10 Pilz. Hop types are right on, but there are less Centennial, more amarillo, and the Citra are dry hops, not...

Cheap & Easy 10 Gallon Rubbermaid MLT Conversion

I'm gonna have to say that this is a GREAT thread BUT I'm not sold on the screen that is being used here. I've done about 4 batches with the braided hose and it has worked out pretty good, but the screen gets beat to #$^#& every time and I think I'll have to replace it in a few batches. I've...

Why do I always forget to check my OG???

I always forget to take my OG (post boil and cooling) as well. I think it is because I get too excited to pitch the yeast and/or I want to get the wort into the bucket ASAP in order to minimize contamination.

    Carboy/ Keg Cleaner Giveaway

These look pretty sweet. I have kegs and carboys, would the carboy one work in a 5g soda keg as well?

Cheap & Easy 10 Gallon Rubbermaid MLT Conversion

Did you guys have trouble keeping your screen on the outlet hardware? I did mine for the first time on Sat and part way through the Batch sparge the whole thing came off and grain clogged my valve.

Anyone else not crazy about New Belgium?

The only issue Ihave with the new "sour" series is that it is SO darn expensive!! Here in SoCal they are charging something like $12 for a 22oz bottle. Shoot, I can get Rodenbach for less than that!! and I'll take one of those over a fake belgain ANY DAY.

Let the ice melt first? Run a line from there to the water thing on your fridge? Put your water into a pitcher in your fridge?

    Got called a meth dealer...

I'm not "THAT" bad, but I too am an aquarist (coral reef tanks) so on top of the bags of leafy green stuff (Hops), burners, kettles and vials, I also have a coral prop system in my garage with a 400w MetalHalide, bags of chemicals (CaCl - Driveway de-icer, CaHO3 - Pickling lime, Baking powder...

Using a pasta maker to mill grain.

Thanks... Here is the dremel bit I used: http://www.hobbyplace.com/tools/drebits.php Maybe this is better location: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31gk2YaJKrL._SL500_AA300_.jpg and here is what my results are similar to... as posted by another member earlier in this thread...

Using a pasta maker to mill grain.

I did the whole Mod thing yesterday and I found that this kind of bit for my dremel seemed to work the best. I was able to groove in some nice lines down the length of the rollers similar to that one non-diamond patter knurl. I think this will pull the grains in very well but crush them as...

Cheap & Easy 10 Gallon Rubbermaid MLT Conversion

Exact same prices here in SoCal (in April) except I was able to get the SS washer as part of the build-a-bolt kit. It was $4 and came with a few washers, but the gas savings was probably worth not driving to the Fastenall place.
