The hops are taking over my garden! How do I transplant them?

The subject pretty much sums it up. When and how should I transplant these? I do have a very nice harvest coming this year but they are taking over the garden!

Now what? Toss or keep or just more time?

Latest batch Had stuck fermentation which i did not discover until after 4 weeks. I am not sure how long it was stuck for. I added dry yeast and raised the temp to 65. Viola, bubbles started I thought everything was going to be ok. Another month has gone by, the beer is now at 1.011, but it...

    Stuck fermentation in a conical

I have my first stuck fermentation. I am pretty sure it's because I turned the heat down in the house when I went on vacation, the basement got down to around 40something degrees. So I raised the temperature to 65 hoping that would do it, but nothing. I read some of the threats that deal with...

What to do, when you go on vacation for 4 weeks?

I have a beer in the secondary fermenter. Hydrometer reading show it to be ready. I am leaving town for 4 weeks. So the question is should I keg it or should I leave it in the fermenter? Thanks

Best way to dry hop in a conical is...?

I am doing my second batch in a 10 Gallon Conical. I dry hopped the first batch with the usual pellets. The problem ended up being murky beer with tons of particles. What is the best way to avoid that, besides not dry hopping? Using leave hops? Thanks for the input.

Does doubling up on yeast speed up fermentation?

I am wondering if there is any benefit to adding an extra pouch of wyeast? Does it get the job done quicker? Does it make the beer stronger? Does it affect the taste? Anyone have experience in this?

My first year of growing my own hops, but they don't smell like anything.

I decided to plant a couple of rizomes this year to grow my own hops. Both plants are doing well with lots of hops on them. Several are now almost the size of a golf ball. I harvested one and smelled it, nothing. Crushed it, rubbed it, smelled it again, nothing. Is that normal? Do they...

What used to take 35 min. now takes 35 seconds

35 minutes to sanitize everything, siphon into the secondary, then clean up the primary and the siphoning tubes etc. Now I just open the valve on the bottom, dump the cake out the bottom into a bucket and DONE!

What used to take 35 min. now takes 35 seconds

they actually sell sleeves/blankets you can wrap around them to regulate the temperature, not sure how well they work. I have mine in the basement where is stays cool even in the summer.

nicely written, however one question: Why is there a bottle of red stripe in your fridge?

What used to take 35 min. now takes 35 seconds

I finally broke down and bought a conical fermenter. I read the reviews send some e-mails and decided to spend the extra money and get a Blichmann in favor of a Brewhemoth. I just couldn't get to terms with just a 4 inch opening for cleaning. I just "transferred" my first batch from the...

    Nooooo!!!! First sour smelling batch!!!!!!!!

WOW, I had some of this stuff yesterday evening, the sour smell is gone and it tastes good. Amazing what 24 hours of conditioning in a refrigerated keg will do. Thanks for the input!

    Nooooo!!!! First sour smelling batch!!!!!!!!

It blew up in the middle of the night, so it sat until the next morning. Our house is very clean and we don't have any pets/pests though.

    Nooooo!!!! First sour smelling batch!!!!!!!!

It smells sour maybe even a little acidic. I don't really have anything to compare the smell to maybe sour milk, but I haven't smelled any in a long time. This is the batch that blew the lid off the bucket, so I suspected problems which is why I left it in the fermenter that long. There were...

    Nooooo!!!! First sour smelling batch!!!!!!!!

The stuff smells sour, I let it sit in the secondary fermenter for almost 2 month. Doesn't taste all that bad, but I am wondering if I should just throw this one out. Does anyone know whether you can get sick from drinking sour smelling beer? I don't mean sick because you drink too much...

and the bucket DIDN'T go BOOM!!!! but...

I just have the standard 6.5 gallon bucket filled to the 5 gallon mark. I really think that this is somehow related to the german yeast. I am new to brewing but I have made about 12 batches thus far and the only ones that ever blew/spilled where the two using german yeast.

and the bucket DIDN'T go BOOM!!!! but...

So after my experience with the blown lid I got some good advice about installing a vent tube which I inserted into a gallon jug half filled with water. On day two the tube was bubbling like an oxygen pump in an aquarium. Towards the end of the day it started pumping some liquid and particles...

    Brewhemoth conicals?

I just sent them an e-mail as well asking about how easy it is to clean these, seems like a 4 inch hole in the top would make it rather difficult. Has anyone tried to clean one of these?
