5 Months and still no carbonation

How would I get the beer into the keg without oxygenating it? Would there be any flavor or attenuation differences between WLP099 and using champagne yeast?

5 Months and still no carbonation

Hi everyone. So I brewed a Barleywine back in May to celebrate my now 3 week old daughter. As others have done, I want to open a bottle on each of her birthdays. the beer ended up @ an FG of 1.020 @11.7% ABV. I added 1/2 pack of dry yeast and 5oz of corn sugar at bottling time. I wanted to...

Gonna add some more yeast to an already bottled Barleywine...

I have the same problem but my 11.7% barleywine has been in the bottle for 5 months. I was also considering adding yeast to the bottles. Does anyone know of a downside to this? Any tips for success?

    Chest freezer fermentation chamber

I have to disagree with the thermowell idea. The thermowell will give you even larger temp variences. Think about it, what takes longer to cool, the wort in the center of the carboy? Or the outside edge? By the time the wort at the center of the carboy reaches 66 degrees the outer edge may be...

    Fermentation and duration - saison

Do you leave the beer at these high temps for the duration of the primary? For instance if I ramped my temps from 68 to 85 over the first week do I keep it at 85 for the next 2 to 3 weeks?

    Regulating temps in chest freezer

For the best control of the beer temp you want the probe attached to the fermentor. I have mine attached to the outside with a piece of styrofoam over it to insulate it. This will give you a pretty accurate reading of your beer temp. right now you are metering air temps which can be very...

How to adjust recipe for whirlpool???

Well fellas I decided to do what I thought Tasty meants on CYBI. I did 60, 15,10,5,and 0 minute additions. I whirlpooled (stirred with a big spoon every few minutes) for 20 mins and chilled. The wort has tons of hop flavor so hopefully it will turn out well. I will post my results in a...

    Help with my keezer setup

I dont need it but it would be nice. By having three primaries would you have to use 3 co2 bottles? Or does someone make three primary regulators that connect directly to the co2? I guess im also confused about the secondaries. Are you saying that if I want my secondaries to funtion properly...

How to adjust recipe for whirlpool???

That makes sense but this recipe has a 60, 30, 15, 10,and 5 minute additions with no whirlpool addition. If you move those all back 20 minutes to account for the whirlpool time it doesnt really make sense. That would mean your last hop addition is at 25 minutes

How to adjust recipe for whirlpool???

I think tasty said he moved the 30 minute addition to flameout instead of the other way around. Still doesnt quite make sense to me. That was one if the more confusing episodes ive listened to. Ill definately let you guys know how it turns out.

How to adjust recipe for whirlpool???

Im going to be brewing the Citra clone recipe from CYBI tomorow and on the show the mentioned needing to adjust the recipe for the whirlpool time if you dont have the ability to whirlpool. The brewer whirlpools for 20 mins after a 60 minute boil. How do I adjust my recipe for that? Do I move...

Hey everyone. I am trying to put together my gas setup for my keezer. I would like to be able to carb/serve at 3 different pressures. My plan is to have a primary with 2 secondaries. I have a 15cf freezer and I can fit 9 kegs inside. Im wondering what the most cost effective way to work my...

does a growlers carbonation last over a day?

I have many different growlers of all shapes and sizes. I have never had an issue with any of them holding carbonation for at least a week. I have even carbonated my homebrew in a few of them before. Drank it a few months later and it was great!

    Cold crash before bottling

I cant speak to the yeast strain you are using but I can tell you from experience that if you cold crash a highly flocculant yeast like wlp007 you can run into carbonation issues if you dont add fresh yeast at bottling. My arrogant bastard clone took 3 months to fully carb after doing this.

    Stepping up yeast starter

For a beer that big a 2L flask really is not big enough. You will have to step that thing up 10 times so you can get enough yeast. You really just need to get a larger container. A 5L flask would be best. But you can use almost any large container. Needs to be at least a gallon.

    Storeing my beer
