First 10 Gallon batch in Home Depot cooler with........26.8lb's of grain

No false bottom just a bazooka tube... This is going to be cutting it close I guess. I figure I will pre heat the cooler with 180 degree water then pour it back into the kettle. Add the grains to the preheated cooler then add as much of the strike water as possible and adjust my two sparge...

First 10 Gallon batch in Home Depot cooler with........26.8lb's of grain

Thanks for all the replies! I am going to do 1 quart of water per pound of grain and give it a go. If I get bad efficiency I am going to add a bit of corn sugar to bump it up.

First 10 Gallon batch in Home Depot cooler with........26.8lb's of grain

I am planning on doing my first 10 gallon batch this weekend. I picked a nice surly furious clone recipe, ordered the grain, and then realized.... maybe my 10 gallon cooler won't be able to mash almost 27 pounds of grain with a 1.25 quart of water per lb of grain ratio..... If I drop the ratio...

Question about legs for bayou sp10 burner

Does anyone have any tips on buying legs for the bayou sp10 burner. I want the burner to be lifted high enough so I can drain 10 gallons of wort into two carboys. I see that some of the bayou burner kits include square leg extensions made of square tubing already but I am having trouble...

1800 watt induction boils how much wort?

I routinely boil up to 6.5 gallons of wort on my commercial 1800w induction burner. After sparging and collecting all of my already 160 degree ish wort it takes me 30-40 to reach a low rolling boil. I use a cheap polarware pot that just by chance actually worked with my induction burner. I...

Question about Harvesting yeast from bottle

Thanks, I hope it turns out to be their lager yeast... If it's successful I definitely plan on washing the yeast and saving it. I have a feeling that it is a lager strain as almost every single brewery I visited in the Czech Republic was using lager yeast but time will tell. I will...

Question about Harvesting yeast from bottle

Hey Everybody, I recently got back from a trip to Prague and managed to smuggle back a bottle of Staropramen's new unfiltered beer. Although it says it uses some wheat in the recipe on the bottle it does not taste like a traditional Belgian or German wheat to me. I think it tastes more...

For Sale 43 Assorted flip/swing top bottles and bottle tree dryer

I might consider shipping but I would think that the cost would be kind of ridiculous. I would also consider any interesting trades like a large brew pot, keggle, nice burner/stand or anything else that might be interesting. I am going to give it another week before I split everything up and...

    smallest keezer possible

Finished it! It is definitely the smallest keezer that fits two corny kegs and a 5 or 10 pound co2 tank. I just need to make a cheap drip tray for it now and organize my lines better.

    smallest keezer possible

I was able to build the collar this weekend. The freezer fits one corny and 5lb co2 tank with no modification. It fits two cornies plus the tank with a 6 inch collar. I built the collar out of oak and rubbed it with linseed oil. I am going to put the two faucets on the left-hand side. My...

    Possible Temperature controller. . .

    smallest keezer possible

Greetings All, Long time lurker here, but I joined just to give you all a heads up to a great chest freezer is on sale at target for the next couple days. This isn't for those that want a huge multi-tap keezer setup but more so for those that have very limited space or live in a small city...
