Looking for a good dark IPA 5 gallon recipe

I want to stick with a bunch of ingredients that I have on hand so I can modify an existing recipe to suit my inventory. I have a bunch of 2-row pale and about 1 lb of chocolate & black patent malt. Hops wise I grow my own centennial, fuggles, cascade and hautauller. I will probably need...

    70 qt Coleman extreme cooler

I'm ready to move into all grain brewing (I think) and am just starting to collect up some equipment. I mistakenly bought a 70 qt cooler (rectangular) when I thought I was getting a 50 quart (not paying attention). I was looking to do just 5 gallon batches in the 50 quart cooler and have...

Quick question while I'm brewing, dry hopping

I'm making a new batch right now. Basically just a light pale ale with two cans of extract. Last time I made it with 1 oz of amarillo hops (1 hr boil), 3/4 oz of Strisselsplat (10 mins boil) and 1/2 of Sterling at the end of boil (Whitey's Gone Fishin Recipe from The Joy of Homebrewing)...

    Whitey's Gone Fish'in Pale Ale

I bought two batches worth of ingredients from the recipe in The Joy of Homebrewing called Whitey's Gone Fishing Pale Ale. For batch one, just going to do it by the book. Batch two I was thinking of using a chili pepper in it. Is that advisable for an ale? How many peppers should I use for...

Blow out, what to do now?

OK. I just came home to a blow out. Looks like I lost about a gallon. I put the airlock back on and it is still bubbling really good. Will I need to add more yeast or should it be ok? I'm now on a quest to look for a blowout tube to fit over the head of my carboy for future batches.

Questions from a newb: Nut brown ale

I just bought two canned kits of hopped nut brown ale (liquid extract) from a new zealand company black rock. I was just going to add the two kits together and forego adding any other sugar and make a 5 gallon batch. What can I do to make it any better. When I boil the extract should I...

How much DME do I need for bottling 1 L & Grolsch

I am doing my first batch from a kit (czech pil). I'm not going to pitch in the DME straight into the batch because I'm not quite sure what the final volume will be (avoiding the yeast on bottom). So I'm going to put the DME in each bottle. I have 1 litre plastic bottles and some grolsch snap...
