    Mold in secondsry?

This is about as good as I can get. How long is too long for a brew to sit in secondary. The temp has been kept pretty consistent through that time and it has been kept dark. I want to bottle it if there is still hope! I grew up in Woodridge and moved to Mundelein 4 years ago.

    Mold in secondsry?

I did do a search so I ask for your forgiveness in advance if this has already been discussed. I brewed a nights Cap cherry stout on April 22nd. I added frozen cherries to the boil. A second job and a newborn prevented me from being able to bottle this 5 gallon batch. I checked it yesterday and...

    Brewers Best Holiday Ale kit

I left mine in the primary for about 10 days and the secondary for 3 weeks. I got real nervous because at 2 weeks in the bottles it had zero carbonation. It took 5 weeks before it was decent. I couldn't help but sample it every few days, so by the time I hit the 5 week mark they were mostly...

    Where did I go wrong?

Today I brewed my 6th batch of beer. This was the first time using a Midwest Supplies kit, White Lab Yeast, and doing a lager. The kit was Rich German Bock. I steeped the grains for 30 min at about 158 degrees, I boiled 3 gallons of water and added most of the extract saving about a pound...

    Favorite Bottle to Recycle?

I like these from Boulevard Brewing Co. It's hard to build a collection when they are only sold in 4 pack!

    Brewers Best Blonde Ale

I have been drinking this batch of blonde ale for about a week now and I think it turned out pretty good. I would say that the first few sips are a little bitter and it does not go well with food. Food seems to make it seem even more bitter. Yesterday I was having a cigar and the beer tasted...

Brewers Best Imperial Pale Ale Low OG help

I brewed the same stuff up about 2 months ago now and had a some of the same concerns. Because I was paying attention to the OG I only added enough water to come up with 4 gallons in the fermenter (that's what the directions said to do). After talking to a few people on this forum I decided to...

    4 gallons instead of 5

Thanks for the responses. I know that the markings on the bucket are correct, or at least close, because I used 5 one gallons jugs of store bought spring water.

    4 gallons instead of 5

Thanks! I restled with whether or not to just add the water, but I chose not to.

    4 gallons instead of 5

Becasue the directions of the Brewer's Best Imperial Pale Ale said to add water until the OG gets to 1.081, I only ended up with a total of 4 gallons of brew instead of 5. Is this going to cause a problem?
