    No need for secondary at all. I just do 3 - 4 weeks primary then bottle or keg. Works great and it greatly reduces the chance of infection and/or oxidation.

    After making a starter the other day with WLP001 I refilled the white labs tube alittle more than half way(after soaking the tube in starsan of course) and put it back in the fridge.     Just got my new 15 gal conical on Wednesday so I'm breaking her in with a 13 gal batch of blond ale on Sunday. Got my starter going yesterday and I'm gonna step it up tonight so it's ready for me on Sunday.
