    Virginia HERMS for sale

Life has gotten in the way of enjoying homebrew. I built this HERMS a few years ago and had some great brews from it but for the past 2 years its sat in the corner of the garage, unused. I don't think I'll be brewing again for a while to come so its time to let this bundle of joy go so someone...

Farewell perfectly-functional wet bar 1 wk after closing on the house

This is hands down the most dangerous thread I've found yet. I am in the same boat in that I've just purchased a house with a very nice/new wet bar. However, this bar is totally impractical. I have been telling myself to let it go and have been prioritizing other projects around the house...

    MD/DC brewers?

Burke, VA here. Pretty jealous that the MD brew scene seems to have their act together more that VA. Since when does THAT happen???

Craft beer week??? How'd I miss that memo?

    HERMS help

Hey gang, When playing with software or manually calculating mash numbers and efficiencies, how does one account for a HERMS setup? It isn't necessarily a batch sparge (or is it?). I'm trying the BeerSmith on trial right now and I'm guessing that a One step Temperature mash is about what a...

    2nd AG

Here I sit. 30mins left on my boil for AG number two, drinking some of batch one, on tap. It's moments like these that make me believe that all is right in the world. :mug:

    Sam Adams Longshots

I have entered twice, back when this first started about 5 years ago(?). First submission did not go well, as I have been kegging for years and had a hell of a time figuring out a counter-pressure bottle filler. Ended up with really flat beer at the competition. Second entry went a little...

Things I learned going from Home to Nanobrewer...

You are my hero!!!! Although I thought I was in enough trouble as I put together my list from the DIY threads (HERMS, Keezer, Conical, Ferm chamber)... Now I have to add Nanobrewery to the list of dreams! ( I should probably not mention this one to SWMBO yet) Thanks for the info and...

    Goooaaallll!

Tasted my first AG brewed 11 June. That is a tasty beer.:ban: Went with a simple american ale kit from NB, just to try out the new equipment (HERMS) and crack the code on AG. (it really wasn't nearly as scary as I had made up in my head). Thanks to all on this forum. I couldn't have done it...

    Its the thought that counts?

I know its supposed to be the thought that counts, but somehow when SWMBO goes and buys me a birthday present with MY money, it just doesn't feel right. I appreciate the sentiment, but there is usually a reason I haven't bought item X (usually because I didn't want to spend the money) and when...

    First AG. Thanks!

Brewed up my first AG yesterday. :ban: Have been an extract brewer for 15 years but do to various reasons (to include fear) never took the step until now. Thanks to HBT for helping me design my HERMS (see DIY thread). Decided to do a kit from Northern Brewer, figured it'd provide better...

Three Dogs Brewery finally up and running

First batch is in the carboy!:mug::ban: System worked perfectly. Temp was held at 153 like I wanted. Boil was uneventful. The only downside I can see is that I diluted the wort a little from the recipe due to having too much water in the BK. I over estimated how much would be lost due to...

Three Dogs Brewery finally up and running

Couple of lessons learned today in the trial run. First, a disclaimer. This is (will be) my first AG. I've been an extract brewer for 15 years and only recently decided to jump in with both feet to AG. Built the HERMS mainly for something to do (I'm a DIY'r and am renting my current house...

Three Dogs Brewery finally up and running

The BK sits overtop a HP turkey fryer cast burner. I like the jet engine flame for fast heating. I don't have any internal pics because my camera crapped out, but I have an immersion chiller inside, with connections coming up and over. Side inlet for whirlpool and side pickup tube. Plan is...

Three Dogs Brewery finally up and running

For the MT, I've got a copper frame, slotted via a dremel tool for my pickup, and another copper frame on top for my sparge arm. After playing with it today I may make some changes there. More about lessons learned at the end.
