Brewed up my first AG yesterday. :ban: Have been an extract brewer for 15 years but do to various reasons (to include fear) never took the step until now. Thanks to HBT for helping me design my HERMS (see DIY thread). Decided to do a kit from Northern Brewer, figured it'd provide better control since the equipment was unproven. System worked perfectly but in the end my SG was a little low (1.040 vice target of 1.047). Figure that was because I overestimated the amount of water needed to make up from losses in the system. Have adjusted my pickup tubes to minimize that in the future.
I have to say that AG isn't nearly as scary or confusing as I had believed. I"m now proud to say I'm a "real" brewer. :rockin:
