First partial mash, made an oops

I've only done one PM, but I would say that you're probably OK I will go with the standard advice around here and say, don't throw it out...see it to the end and then when someone else comes around with the same question you can say "I did the same thing and it turned out great/OK/gawdawful"

    Howdy from Dallas

Welcome to the board, E!...I'm in McKinney and a Sooner grad as well I'm still a noob myself, so I know what you mean about this board being a life saver...I've learned a ton here in the few months that I've been brewing

    Better Bottle vs Ale Pail

this may sound goofy, but the main reason I upgraded to Better Bottles was because not being able to see inside the fermenter was driving me crazy the buckets still come in handy for holding sanitizer, top-off water, etc.

    SWMBO sleeping habits.

<-------------- total night owl I could be dead tired and if I'm not in bed by 9 or 10, that nighttime energy kicks in and it's like I was never sleepy

    AHB 2-Row Shipment

I would guess that it would be best to get most of the powder out of there, but it's a good question...I never bothered to try to get rid of any of the powder from the steeping grains on my previous brews I have my first PM this weekend too

    Using bottled water to brew.

unless you think your water is pretty awful, you should at least experiment with a batch using tap water...you don't want to have to buy bottled water every time if you'll be perfectly happy with tap water beer plus playing around with things is part of homebrewing, especially when it could...

    Long Fermentation

6 days is nothing to worry about...just let it go til it slows down and/or reaches the FG that you're shooting for I recently brewed an AHS Pale Ale and it was 14 days before it calmed down...it was ready to drink this weekend and it's my first batch that I would serve with pride...it's...

    Singing the praises of Oxy-Clean

on my first brew, I spilled some wort on the kitchen floor and it was damn near impossible to get rid of all of the stickiness had another spill on batch #2, but that time I had some Oxyclean and it cleaned right up with no problems it works like a charm on my Better Bottles too <------ big fan

    Yet another stupid question

I had the same concern at first but if you look closely you'll see some pin-sized holes on the top

    Favorite Brewing Music

awesome!...I just figured out who I'll be brewing with tomorrow...their first one has never grabbed me, but the last two are tip-top (with the exception of that chick singing on Chill-out Tent) and will be played at maximum volume when it's time to make the beer I can't believe this hasn't...

    Binoculars?

I was poking around on the Austin Homebrew Supply site and one thing threw me off they sell bincolulars...why would a homebrewer need binoculars?

    Another DME/LME question

I was looking over the recipes in Palmer's book and I noticed that most of his recipes use LME...the only recipes that incorporated DME were the high-gravity brews (all DME for the Stout & LME/DME combo for the Barleywine) so my questions is: why DME in these 2 recipes and not the others...

    Bottling 1st batch tomorrow: Question...

cool, thanks for the info everyone...I just finished bottling and I ended up with about an inch in each bottle...we'll see how it goes in a few weeks

    Bottling 1st batch tomorrow: Question...

The instructions that came with my kit specifically refer to 12 oz bottles and say to fill to an inch from the top. My question is, since I'm using liter bottles, do I need to adjust how much I fill the bottles? I wasn't sure if the larger volume would need more headspace or not. Thanks.
