Anyone know if reverse-osmosis home systems can eliminate PFAS?

I appreciate the compliment but I'm just someone who has to deal with these regulations in my work. I've tried to listen and read as much if the research as possible. But as most research goes, some link PFAS to health issues. Other research does not. As far as treatment goes, as I said...

Anyone know if reverse-osmosis home systems can eliminate PFAS?

The table appears to be a quarterly running annual average. I haven't had time to dig into the new rule, but I haven't seen that compliance will be determined by a QRAA. It's pretty much 4ppt in any given sample from what I've seen. I'm not going to bore you with a bunch of water jargon. My...

Anyone know if reverse-osmosis home systems can eliminate PFAS?

Activated carbon and RO are the best technologies that remove PFAS effectively. Activated carbon needs time to remove the chemicals. It's a function of how fast the water is passing through the filter. The longer the water is in contact with the carbon, the better. RO will separate the...

How many recipe ingredients do you keep on hand

Same except for the flaked wheat. I do flaked oats instead but it was like you where looking at my inventory. My downfall is hops. I buy way more than I use. I just threw away about half a pound of Chinook from 2018.

    Oxebar Keg?

I did a pressure test with empty bottles before applying the tape and both held pressure for a couple of weeks while my beer was in the fermenter. The tape was added as a precaution after reading several reviews saying they had leaks. It's just enough tape to stay in place on the threads...

    Oxebar Keg?

So I have a small chest freezer for my kegs. I think it's a 5.5 cubic foot model. The Oxebar 8L bottles fit perfectly in the opposite corners of the corny kegs. Try to ignore the mess but the upper right oxebar is sitting on the floor of the freezer. The lower left is sitting on 3 upside down...

    Oxebar Keg?

I have the 8L bottles for half batches. The only issue I have is the bottles tip over very easily. Does anyone have a suggestion on stabilizing the bottles? Maybe some type of foot or bucket you put them in to keep them upright?

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I wasn't able to fish the sockeye salmon run this year. So we've been catching pinks like crazy. Although not the preferred species, when smoked, it's not terrible. 😉 And for anyone who has a Weber Summit Kamado, the jerky tray kit sold at Bass Pro and...

    New beginnings

Hey all. It's been a while. Last year, the wife and I started talking about buying a new house, so I paused any brewing while getting our house ready for sale. All of a sudden, a field office of my company needed a new deputy director. Turns out, I got the job which moved us from Fairbanks, AK...

    Suggestions for new grill/smoker replacement

Hey everyone. Original thread starter here with an update. All I have to say is life happens fast. I focused on family last summer. Didn't really cook that much. My oldest went to college, so we spent as much time with her as possible. Going into fall, the wife and I started talking about...

Your favorite Kolsch recipe with 34/70 and American hops?

That's what was referring to. My local store doesn't have it. I've requested they get some, but their not very responsive to customers. This is $11 per pack on Amazon. It's cheaper on other websites, but shipping is $10 to $15. One of the downsides to living in interior Alaska.

Your favorite Kolsch recipe with 34/70 and American hops?

Well, I guess I stirred the pot asking a simple question. Please don't take offense to this statement. We're all passionate about our homebrew and I really appreciate all the feedback. Yes, it's true that it's not a true kolsch but I'm not entering this beer into competition, so it doesn't...

Your favorite Kolsch recipe with 34/70 and American hops?

Unfortunately, I'm limited to dry yeast by my local shop. I'll check in tomorrow to see if they have any K97.

    Element threads ?

Probably not what you want to hear, but you can buy a new element for what you'd pay in tooling to touch up the threads. 1" NPS threading dies on Amazon are in the $30 to $60 range. Locally, you'll probably pay more, if you can find one. The Camco 02964 element, 5500 watt with stainless base...

    Suggestions for new grill/smoker replacement

Thanks everyone. I'd love to get a ceramic kamado but I have to pull it in and out of the garage all winter. On hard pack snow and ice, that would be difficult. Not impossible with the right cart however. We have a local BGE dealer and the big home improvement stores will occasionally have a...

    Suggestions for new grill/smoker replacement

I currently have an Akorn that needs some replacement parts. Rather than investing more into this grill, I'm considering something new. I'm skeptical of the new temperature controlled grills like the treager and master built gravity charcoal. It gets really cold where I live and I don't think...

Tied some fine fishing line to the filter. Tied the other end to the bottom of the keg lid, around...

Yes. Thank you. I've solved many problems as a water plant operator with just a little oring grease! I lube every oring I find.
