review on my first beer; a B.B. red ale

Is cider flavor a bad thing? What I mean is does it taste bad or just different then what you expected?

    new to homebrew quick question

Oils will ruin the head, among other things. I think the biggest piece of advice as far as adding adjuncts or whatever you call it, is to check out the make-up of the ingredient. I think there was a thread about adding a butterfinger or butter cup, sure you might want a chocolate and peanut...

Wort cooling idea, will this work?

Do not put it in the freezer. Waste of time.

    First Brew Day!!

I am confused on the order of things and the wording, you made it sound like you dumped boiling "water" into fermenter. Does this mean you boiled your make-up water first and put it in better bottle, then put wort in later, or did you just put the wort in hot?

Have you found "The" beer to end all beers

It's hard to compare beers and label one as a favorite. My favorite brew in college was Crimson Voodoo by Dixie Brewing Company. This beer is no longer made, I have three bottles, I am sure they are all but ruined by now, but can't seem to let them go. I think someone else is brewing...

Have you found "The" beer to end all beers

I don't usually go out of my way to drink SA, but their Oktoberfest is one of my favorite beers

    Punk Rock and Hardcore

I saw the Cromags (or maybe it was just their leads) open for Rancid and Big D at the 930 club. I thought they were okay. The lead singer kept going on about politics, nobody seemed to care. Sometimes I think bands wanna talk politics since they're in DC, but almost all of us live here for...

    Punk Rock and Hardcore

I saw them a few years ago at the Ottobar in Bmore, great music, great show.

    Are You Saving Money?

Minimalist brewing is not something found often on this board.

    Punk Rock and Hardcore

I think English Beat, Madness, and Bad Manners were on tour a few years ago. I think I'm gonna have to name one of my brews 'Lip up Fatty'. Another two great ska/punk bands: Darkbuster Hub City Stompers

    Would it float?

    Found it already:

    Punk Rock and Hardcore

I've seen the Pietasters so many times I've stopped counting, they pretty much just play for fun these days, you hang out with them at a show you will have a few too many for free. I think they drop their cut on the tab. I've only seen King Django once, he did a few gigs with the Slackers on...

    Would it float?

We need a threadjack, what piece of brewing or beer related thing would be great to blend. I think they did a coke can once.

If you could ask a brew masters a question....

Yea, but I caught crap (and some childish name calling) from a bunch of probrewers on this board for saying I'd rather get advice from a homebrewer then a probrewer, on a thread about questions for a probrewer. Just didn't want the same to happen to anyone else. Those pics look awesome...

If you could ask a brew masters a question....

Okay, how about this for a question, is there a technique or piece of equipment the big boys are using that the homebrewer isn't, but might be able to? Some sort of new DIY project.

    Would it float?

I think it's a good assumption that the higher SG of the wort will offset the lower gravity of the bottle. Anyway, the point is it would mostly likely start to float is when the water level outside the carboy is close to the water level inside, if the water level outside is lower it probably...

    Would it float?

That's why I said "weight of the wort and bottle" And it doesn't need to offset the buoyancy of the plastic was much as volume inside the plastic.

If you could ask a brew masters a question....

This thread has already been jacked one time over this sort of issue, without provoking the previous "discussion" that has since been deleted, I think we can all mostly agree that there is a definitive difference between professional brewers and homebrewers. But I will also say that this...
